#learnchat A6) My next book is going to be on building expertise in the age of AI - it's really NOT about every skill you have, but what you're particularly good at. As work changes with AI, this is going to be even more important. (Yes, I know, my skills book hasn't even come out yet...)

I think if you can develop a good mentorship program is one way for an employee get feedback and inspiration on where they want to develop further. I've seen it done once in a great case study where the mentorship program lasted for at least a year. #LearnChat

#learnchat A4) Written and verbal communication are often looked at outside of work contexts, but as a leader, someone who can clearly articulate a problem, potential solutions, their recommendation and impact is priceless. Getting specific with tasks and success metrics is key

I see them trying to use Personal Development Plans, and 360 assessments, and mapping competencies to org values. None of which I think do a good job of acually identifying and development transferable skills. Seem like "oh this tool will help us do it" "no maybe this one" #LearnChat

I wish I had thought of this years ago when I was actually collecting/developing lots of skills. I suppose at one point I had more of an online portfolio that I could reference and see a knowledge shift in. #LearnChat

Make sure if you are using deck.blue and have a column set to filter for #LearnChat that you click the Gear/Settings in the upper right corner of the column. You can change the refresh rate to 15s - default is 5 min.

That is all too true. Speaking of.... I learned this week that if my Storyline course is only sending 2 questions to the LMS chances are I FORGOT TO ENSURE ALL QUESTIONS were ticked off on the results slide. LOL #learnchat

Focusing on intent. I have a story about getting laid off. Naturally, I was angry, but it led to much learning for me. So, what do I want the listener to feel - my anger or my joy? If it's joy, I need to edit the bad stuff and keep the good. Your intent is not to tell a story. It's to move them.

Great point. I try to get my SME's to tell those "exceptions to the rules" stories. Those are always the ones that people fumble on what they are supposed to do next. #LearnChat

No, what motivates me is when Duo shames me through emails, or my nephew sends a nudge "WHAT YOU'RE GOING TO LET OUR STREAK DIE?!!?". That get's me on there to do another lesson. :)
