I’m working on a puppet as a personal project, and trying some new techniques. I sculpted the basic shapes in monster clay, took a 3D scan, made the sculpture smooth and symmetrical in Nomad, subtracted room for mechanisms, and printed a prototype in foam TPU.

Got some late night cosplay in at #TrekLongIsland. I was a bit disappointed that the burlesque show and the cosplay masquerade were at the same time. I had to miss the burlesque because I had committed to the masquerade before the schedule came out. I’ll attempt to cosplay again tomorrow morning.

Do you ever finish sewing something and cry with relief? I’ll be wearing this outfit with my prosthetics and body paint at @treklongisland.bsky.social in just a few days! Pardon the mess in the photo, I’ve been busy making the dang thing 🫣

My new cosplay outfit, based on the outfits worn by Quark and Sovak on Risa in Star Trek. The top is based on Quark’s top, and the pants are based on Sovak’s. The top is a blue floral tropical print with gold trim. It is actually two tops, a longer tank top with a matching crop top layered on top. The pants are spring green capris, with fin pieces on the sides of the legs. The shoes are just HOKA clogs.

I made a sewing pattern for pants that actually fit me. I’ve done a toile out of scrap cotton, and am going to make a full test pair out of an old window curtain. The toile fit shockingly well; I’m used to pants not fitting me.

I have been trying to get an answer about the Israel flag over the door at city hall in SF, and I found this thread while digging. I think this connection between Lurie and AIPAC might be the answer.

The only possible thing to do with all this drama was to add Garak. So I made everybody's favorite lizard next.

Garak's character card. He's Reserved. At a glance, he appears aloof. His traits are "logical, tenacious, cautious, speaks matter-of-factly." He's an Observer, which means he is Self-sufficient and highly individual. Doesn't show much outward emotion but has a lot going on deep down.

Quark and Kira became friends, while she only became more sure of her feelings for Odo. But then, something unexpected happened. Odo had a love confession of his own!

I actually had trouble seeing what you describe here. I did a draw-over with some block colors to describe how the hand looks to me. The red is the outline of the hand, the yellow lines denote high points where bones or knuckles are, and the blue is in shadow. The fingers are probably curled.

Yellow lines demonstrate where the tops of the hand bones are under the skin. In the original image, these were all black, making it difficult to understand what line meant what. This is a common problem in digital art when working with layers.

The capsule returning from the ISS was soooo pretty! My photos and videos down even begin to do it justice, it was much brighter and more pink to the naked eye. How incredible to realize that four human beings were up there, moving at that speed. And now they’ve splashed down! They are back!

Hello #portfolioday! I am a mixed media artist with a biology degree, which informs my art style. I sculpt, cast, paint, draw, and sew. I particularly love sculpting prosthetics, props, and practical effect pieces. I am available for work, SF based and can travel.

My most recent work, a painting of my neighbor’s dog, done in acrylic on canvas

Myself, holding a clay Ferengi sculpture that would later become silicone prosthetics. I am dressed in a partially finished tailcoat, also of my own design.

My full Ferengi outfit. The prosthetics, coat, vest, and jumpsuit were all made by me. I modified the glasses myself to have a chain, so I would be able to see in the costume. The only purchase piece is the shoes.

Two other Star Trek costumes I’ve made, Drs T’Ana and Migleemo from Lower Decks. These were intended to mimic the large-head cartoon style of the show.
