So it was actually "free speech for me but not for thee" this whole time. If only it was abundantly obvious that's what it was in the first place 😵

Well no at least not "traditional" law enforcement because according to a quick web search, the gestapo did not practice traditional law enforcement

Well it looks like it's all measured from the edge of Texas that's closest to each place so it would be 2 Texases from the middle of Texas if it's 1.5 from the closest point

We understand emotions and well-being and what humans need from each other in relationships better than at any time in human history, and the positive feedback loop from that is pretty powerful.

Not sure profits would even be realized in a single quarter when long time dedicated fans ditch the brand instantly, not to mention having an R&D revolt on their hands.

Though good point that technically Secret Lair could do it without design having anything to do with it - he might not be able to commit anything there but I think wotc knows it would be devastating. Maybe hasbro doesn't know this but I'm sure they'd be made aware internally.

Plant-rich diets are the food system's electrification. Petrol cars only see 18-25% of their fuel energy get to the wheels; EVs 87-91%. Heat pumps are 2 or 3 times more efficient. Food has its own combustion engine: a chicken turns about 13% of its feed calories into food, worse than a petrol car.

When we stop talking about climate change like it’s a political issue and start talking about it as a shared challenge that we all need to work together to solve, that’s when we’ll finally be able to start talking about saving ourselves. That is our conclusion here!

When to open and close pools is one of my favourite examples of opportunities for using seasonal climate predictions. You get current climate for free since initialized with current year plus some ENSO impact predictability etc. And it's an eminently "hedge-your-bets"-able decision.

So 10.5 is a summary of sorts but the statements are sort of dense and encyclopedic. For a more readable overview, the plain language summary is where you want to go. I'll end brain dump here for now but please bring on the questions and/or requests for more info on certain bits! #CCCR2026 13/13

Trevor Murdock @tqmurdock.bsky.social · 15/09/2026
Finally, the last section of the chapter, 10.5 is just some high level statements that the author team fought tooth and nail over every word but aren't exactly "key messages" or "headline statements" since they are based on both literature plus our expert judgement/experience. #CCCR2026 12/x

These can be thought of as "extended hazards tables" - drawing from the foundation of the info in 10.4 but adding additional sources, linking to climate data - currently only a few hazards but this section will grow and be evergreen - watch this space #CCCR2026 11/x
110
Trevor Murdock @tqmurdock.bsky.social · 15/09/2026
Of course, space is limited in a report of that nature and section 10.4 needed to restrict itself to the knowledge assessed in the rest of the report. So what next if you're interested in a particular hazard? The newly launched climatedata.ca/resource/cli... sections #CCCR2026 let you dig more 10/x

If you find yourself wanting to know more about "ok so where do I get more information on X" where X is one of the hazards in that graphic, then the analogous subsection in 10.4 is a great start. It summarizes what we know, direction of change, what indicators might help us plan, etc. #CCCR2026 9/x

The bulk of the chapter is in the penultimate section 10.4 on hazards, which seeks to summarize findings in the assessment chapters (2 through 9) by hazard, which is how most of us tend to think about climate. This section has its own blog over at climatedata.ca/news/hazard-... #CCCR2026 7/x

So how does Chapter 10 answer "so what/what next"? A few ways! First, it *briefly* (I promise!) describes the emerging field of climate services and touches on why you (yes, you!) probably need to think about how your work should be different due to the fact that climate is changing #CCCR2026 4/x

Unlike so many others, the @financialtimes.com nails the "OMG, 1.5℃ is gone" message: "Temperature overshoot requires urgent action" Yep. And every 0.01℃ matters. Reminds me of my NYT oped with @costasamaras.com: "The widely recited '12-year deadline' is wrong — and right." gwagner.com/12years
UN report: temperature overshoot requires urgent action to keep warming in line with Paris accordWith children, days might last forever, but years fly by. Something similar applies to climate policy. The current days of delay and debates can seem to drag on forever, but the next presidential election is right around the corner, and so is 2030. Concrete, realistic deadlines focus the mind and jump-start action. And jump-start we must.

Level 1 at home in a regular outlet. But I purposely bought the oldest EV that I could find and since it only has an 80 km ish range (2013 Leaf with 1 cell toast), it charges easily overnight and tops up quickly when out and about if necessary.

Trevor Murdock @tqmurdock.bsky.social · 05/09/2026
The report doesn't make policy recommendations - it's strictly an assessment of state of knowledge. There is, however, plenty of content about how much more severe impacts will be in Canada under scenarios with higher global greenhouse gas emissions.
