I don't find that video of those young Black people walking back to their campus uplifting or inspiring in the least. It should enrage every person and all of us of a certain age should be embarrassed that they have to do this in 2026.

This story makes it sound like the major problem is that the Trump Admin did this w/in 60 days of an election. Yes, that's a real abuse. But the major problem is they're basically threatening to denaturalize an opposition legislator, based on racist insinuations. www.nytimes.com/2026/10/12/u...

There is NO industry that is untouched by prison labor. Not one. Men, women, and children as young as 14 make everything from clothes, furniture, electronics, and canned foods to building materials, school buses, and office supplies. Incarcerated women sew the uniforms for McDonald’s.

Reporting from New York during the United Nations General Assembly

Sept. 23, 2026

Secretary of State Marco Rubio said on Wednesday that U.S. negotiators had tried to jump start diplomacy with Iran on its nuclear program through talks on the side of a United Nations summit the previous day.

The flurry of diplomacy came as Iran’s partners, the Houthis, pressed forward with their offensive in the region, widening a second front in a conflict that began when the United States and Israel attacked Iran in February.

Mr. Rubio said that the Americans involved in the talks, Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, were carrying out President Trump’s orders to continue a dialogue with Iran that prioritized persuading the country to end nuclear development involving enriching uranium.

Mr. Rubio added that Iran’s control of the Strait of Hormuz, which occurred as a result of the war, must also be addressed.

Mr. Witkoff is a special envoy for Mr. Trump, while Mr. Kushner is a businessman who is the president’s son-in-law and has no government position.

Deep dives like this really put into perspective what Chief Justice Rehnquist was doing in 2000 when he resurrected the Court’s precedents of the 1870s and 1880s, writing that their authors “had intimate knowledge and familiarity with the events surrounding the adoption of the Fourteenth Amendment.”

In 1971, SCOTUS said a neutral policy can still be discrimination if it disproportionately harms Black workers. Under Trump, the EEOC has abandoned this disparate impact liability standard, the DOJ has attacked it, and “reverse discrimination” claims may get easier. New Baby Boom! Lawyered. Out now.

It’s good to have optimism. I just think it takes more than being a gearhead to make that formula work. The chemistry of the original presenters and their ability to charm a large group of disparate viewers was what made the production a success.

If some of us don’t have civil rights none of us have rights. And honestly if Dems can’t understand that we HAVE NO rights without access to remedies (such as Miranda), because these MFers will never start with rights a default, we will never have anything good or fare or democratic ever again.
