Toxic @toxic.sf.ca.us · 18/09/2026Spotted a new California plate in the wild. Apparently 9ZZZ999 has been issued, and we're on to the new pattern, which started with 000AAA1. 122
Toxic @toxic.sf.ca.us · 15/09/2026Today I ran into an SSL certificate that's been expired for almost 9 years. 021
Toxic @toxic.sf.ca.us · 13/09/2026This summer, I added a garden bench/cabinet with a solar panel mounted above it, and a battery/controller/inverter setup inside. I rent, so I can't put anything on the roof, or tie it to the house panel. (Balcony Solar is almost a thing here, and I'll be looking into it). So, this is off-grid. 110
Toxic @toxic.sf.ca.us · 13/09/2026I've had this outdoor workstation setup for some years now, and it's been fantastic. I think I do more hands-on-keys work here than anywhere else. This is an old picture, there is now a SFF desktop machine bolted to the bottom of the upper desk surface, instead of just a hot-desk for a laptop. 100
Toxic @toxic.sf.ca.us · 10/09/2026"Home River" means many different things. The river I grew up nearest was the Potomac, but I spent more time in the waters of the Shenandoah. But the river that I long for, that I will always want to go back to, is the Nantahala, especially the lower part before you get to the Georgia state line. 010
Toxic @toxic.sf.ca.us · 06/09/2026Always a pleasure to see the confederate-loving racist knobs at VMI get crushed by an in-state team. Yes, they are traditionally bad at football, but only because they're traditionally bad at everything. No redeeming qualities. Well, maybe one. The ring makes a good fishing weight. 010
Toxic @toxic.sf.ca.us · 11/08/2026I've been madly at work tuning up the college football data machine, and trying to give it a little more personality. It's getting closer and closer. 000
Toxic @toxic.sf.ca.us · 09/08/2026Two years ago, I saw Chappell Roan do this song, on this stage. #SFGMC did it so much better. 000
Toxic @toxic.sf.ca.us · 06/08/2026For the record: This man's toupee fooled basically all of America (if not the world) for like 20 years, and he was sweating through it and doing athlete things on TV. When your hair is your brand, you can do (almost) miracle work with fake hair. But a cheap rug will always look like a cheap rug. 030
Toxic @toxic.sf.ca.us · 06/08/2026Like, let's be honest for a minute. Ted Koppel's hairpiece somehow was more believable. 010
Toxic @toxic.sf.ca.us · 06/08/2026The question is: "Every member of Congress has learned to look away when the President starts talking about his enormous [BLANK]." 020
Toxic @toxic.sf.ca.us · 01/08/2026Sometimes it's the AI mistakes that are the most fun. This is not what I was looking for, but dammit, I'm going to find a way to use it. 010
Toxic @toxic.sf.ca.us · 30/07/2026It's been a few months since I asked an AI to draw a cartoon of a cat farting in an elevator. It is getting somewhat better at this particular task: 120
Toxic @toxic.sf.ca.us · 19/07/2026Current status includes an homage to Anchor Steam, an IPA created by Iron Maiden, and whatever the insane clownfish posse is. Perhaps there are underwater magnets? 010
Toxic @toxic.sf.ca.us · 05/07/2026This is what the DC 4th of July celebrations used to look like, before Reagan banned rock acts in the 80s, the Park Service started banning alcohol in the 90s and the security idiots implemented checkpoints post-2001. I was somewhere in this crowd, and I still remember the Katrina and the Waves set. 142
Toxic @toxic.sf.ca.us · 27/05/2026Replacing our garden gnome, who had already lost his butterfly and his fingers. 000
Toxic @toxic.sf.ca.us · 22/04/2026This looks Italian; like that hand in motion started out under her chin. The sentiment is clearly the same, and that's most of what matters anyway. 010
Toxic @toxic.sf.ca.us · 14/04/2026And then there are the maltitol sweetened, zero-sugar gummy bears, mainstay of pranksters, destroyers of latrines. 011
Toxic @toxic.sf.ca.us · 24/03/2026Had to dig pretty deep into my personal archive (aka old junk drawer) to find a Bianca sticker for my new laptop, but at least I still had some. 030
Toxic @toxic.sf.ca.us · 19/03/2026I'm not so confident in the rest of tonight's picks, so I'm going to post this now... ESPN says there are 538,436 others like it, and more than 26,000,000 that have missed at least one game so far. 100
Toxic @toxic.sf.ca.us · 19/03/2026One of those brackets is mine, though I doubt it'll last the day. 010
Toxic @toxic.sf.ca.us · 19/03/2026This particular piece of AI art was not at all what I was going for, but it also seemed worth sharing. 020
Toxic @toxic.sf.ca.us · 07/03/2026I do not limit myself to flour when visiting the restaurant wholesale store. This remains a highly popular ingredient, that's still not (officially) sold at retail? 000
Toxic @toxic.sf.ca.us · 03/03/2026Hold on. I've now been told that in a 15-1 game, it's appropriate to go to the 10th inning? That seems about as useful as tits on a bull. 000
Toxic @toxic.sf.ca.us · 03/03/2026As the world baseball classic players get ready to enter the round-robin pools, they've made short work of MLB teams who are in classic spring training form. USA beats SF 15-1. Italy beats Chicago Cubs 9-4. Mexico beats Arizona 6-3. 110
Toxic @toxic.sf.ca.us · 26/02/2026Oh, FFS, Lenovo. The keyboard on my newest thinkpad, which is a later generation of my previous one (X1 Carbon), looks and feels about the same as the old one. That's good... these keyboards are part of why I'm a loyal Thinkpad user. So, why the heck did they swap CTRL and Fn? 000
