(Once upon a time, @sad13.horse and I talked about doing a SDRE cover band, but only How It Feels and Rising Tide songs. I still think that would rule, personally.)

The first time I heard Low was on a mix CD someone from a message board sent me. It had "Starfire" and "Two Step," plus some songs from The Curtain Hits the Cast. Pretty much immediately became my favorite band. Really considering getting the "black tape" from the back cover as a tattoo.

Reign in Blood was my first, but South of Heaven blew my mind... it's the heaviest album I have ever heard in my life.

Diary, Power of Failing, Nothing Feels Good and Clarity all hit me at the same time, but it was How It Feels that elevated that whole scene/sound to me.

Top two had to be Christian rock/punk/metal... a vital contribution that explains me lol

The top row is me admitting that I would not be who I am without Christian rock lol

You guys want to hear a short but adorable story that happened right in front of me at the baggage claim in NYC yesterday? I wasn't part of it and there are bits I didn't catch but holy crap, I can't stop thinking about it.

I need to give them another shot. I have found Agriculture's take on modern black metal to be pretty unfocused and unruly, and not in a way that interests me. And yet they have a lot of elements I look for in music. 🤷

I don't usually care about remixes/remasters of albums I know by heart, but dang, this sounds incredible. Aesop Dekker's drumming, in particular, is so pronounced and tangible here. youtu.be/ySGAGXnyCbU?...

Easy on the fingees, sounds nice both amplified and not, strings gently boom instead of rattle... what's not to like!? (I play a nylon in my living room just about every day ;)

My relationship with Satanic metal (or metal with heavily Satanic themes) has changed significantly. Venom, however, spoke to something beyond shock and evil to create something downright Miltonian. RIP Cronos. "Lay down your soul to the gods rock and roll." www.youtube.com/watch?v=1kbo...
