TVs didn't always have the F-connector for antenna, they used to connect with screw terminals. So to get the NES to play on the TV, you had to convert the RF Switch output to the VHF terminations. Our house had the three-pin antenna connection, so there was another thing to get it into the switch.

Nintendo RF Switch device, which was a device that connected between an antenna's signal via F-connector coax to the back of a TV/VCR, with a box that had an F-connector-input, and F-connector-output, and a composite RCA wire that went to the NES (Nintendo Entertainment System.)

A tapered cylindrical device with two wires ending in metal forks for screw terminals on one end, and a female F-connector on the other.
The device took the antenna's coax and allowed it to connect to the back of a TV or VCR's VHF or UHF antenna screw terminals in the case it didn't have a female F-connector itself.

A wall plate that has yellowed over time, with the face having two embossed framing rings, TV embossed, and three dots in a shallow triangle. This was a connector for TV antennas before coax F-connectors.

For me, there's an economy of energy for relationships. I don't mind putting more energy in than I get back, but after a while I have to re-evaluate. So in my mind, I have this chart where folks I know move in and out of circles based on that economy of energy I give. More info in the ALT text.

While love may not be finite, the energy one puts into relationships can be. While putting a bit more energy and effort into a relationship than you receive can be okay, there comes a time where you're putting more into it mentally, physically, and emotionally and you have to re-evaluate what you're doing so that you can save yourself and give that energy to other people or things.
It's important for me to remember that relationships are not set in stone--they're fluid, and they will change over time. Forcing them to remain the same when they shouldn't be is harmful to yourself, and potentially to the other person.
I used to try to treat relationships as if they were all equal, that if I put more energy into them I'd eventually get that energy back, that they would reciprocate in return. But then people just expected things of me and didn't give back, or I was just wasting my time and energy and only frustrating them.
So I mentally created this diagram in my head, and it's helped me a lot over the years.
In my mind, I categorize my relationships so that I know how much energy I can put into them and not burn myself out.
I have folks who were like Family to me who are only Folks I kinda know, and strangers who became Family to me.
This chart isn't based on blood, or like/dislike, but just on the levels of energy I can afford to give for what I feel I receive back.
You'll notice that "Folks I hate and have excluded" aren't here because I try not to put any energy into them--I cut them out. They may find themselves back in a circle later, but they deserve no energy from me until then.
I hope others find this helpful, either for themselves, or to understand why I may act like I do sometimes--again, it's not out of hostility or dislike, it's just me putting the finite energy I have into the relationships I have in a way that doesn't burn me out so fast.

Today's blizzard stay-in food for me: I don't know why I never thought to add a whole package of broccoli florets to my Mac&Cheese with hot dogs, but I did today and it was pretty great. :) Added some ground black pepper, but maybe a splash of teriyaki to add some salt and umami.

Big shoutout to Doug Shaffer at Primm & Propper Tattoo in Grand Haven for inking this piece, and to @asmeesh.bsky.social ky.social for doing the custom design. There's a LOT of symbology wrapped up in there, for my mom, dad, myself, and my brother and his family. 2.5 hours. FUCK did it hurt though.
