Nor’easter bunny. #art

A rabbit person walks against the wind as leaves blow past. His long scarf trails behind. Graphite and white pencil on toned paper.

Last time he was listed for genga in a TV episode was in 2014, and only because someone else directed it. You have to look back 22 years to find him credited for animation in an episode of his. Once KyoAni took off, people like him & Ishidate embraced Kigami's approach of self-uncredited animation

Wrote about the intersection of fascinating careers (a crazy producer, an undervalued director, the most textbook rising anime studio) that led to the Takopi anime, and how their attitude aligned with the show's wish for communication among disenfranchised people blog.sakugabooru.com/2025/08/15/t...

It's systemic at the studio too, for as much as the project selection under their previous (until recent) leader was so attuned to the sensibilities of critics that their shortcomings are always whitewashed. Even as a massive fan of the one director being favored rn, this is embarrassing

But it always had the material limitations of a side project while being forced to masquerade as a high-profile megahit. This was always apparent by looking at the team so this downfall, the complete aesthetic collapse & production struggle swith structural repercussions were highly predictable

Glad they made the executive choice of not stretching Takopi to one full cours. Not because that would make it a worse show (it would), nor because it would risk overusing the fundamental constrast in perceptions (it might), but rather, because sitting through 12 weeks of this would erode my soul

A naked gorgon medusa drawing. Skullish features, blue green hues with a shock or rusts in hair. The traditional snakes are tinier than usually depicted, adorning her head and pelvis. She has tan lines i've no idea why

You can have solo key animated episodes, but they'll likely require external clean-up You may have clean solos, but it'll dial back the ambition Perhaps can have ambitious ones, but at the hands of outsiders Yaiba #06 is an ambitious, clean solo key animation effort by core member Takeshi Maenami
