For #AMS2026 - John and @pamknox.bsky.social report that Elevator #14 at the headquarters Hilton should be avoided at all costs. They had to be freed from it by Houston Fire Dept after it got stuck, and the FD told them it happens regularly with that elevator.

In conjunction with the AWS Open Datasets team, we are changing the AWS S3 bucket that contains up-to-date NEXRAD Level II archive data. There is a new bucket name and SNS notification topic, but no other changes. The legacy bucket name will be discontinued September 1, 2025. buff.ly/WVBvt26

A fire burned through our Lake Carl Blackwell Mesonet site around 3:41-3:45pm. One of our thermometers measured a 1-minute average temperature of 173 F at 3:42pm. The 2 meter anemometer is now reporting 0, which indicates that it likely was completely melted. #okwx #okmesonet
