He deleted the post. But not before I snipped it. I honoured it with a block.
He called Jonathan a Pratt. Yes, with 2 ts. And concluded by saying he saw little point in engaging further. In other words, he lost the argument.

Well, the colander thing doesn’t work if there’s too much haze . Interesting sky, though.
Peculiar sky with lots of clouds and haze. The sun is trying to pierce the haze and is too strong to look at directly (not that you should).

This is what I absolutely do not get. The attitude seems to be, "Some people find the UK Net Zero efforts mildly inconveniencing and on a global scale our efforts don't amount to much, so let's do nothing and pretend it's not our problem". This, when we can look around and see our world burning.
Copy and paste of a Bluesky response to a Net Zero supporter which says "And your contention is that the UK will tilt us over the edge if we do any less than we currently do?".

I think I may have discovered the source of the intermittency issue.
Close up of a UK 13 amp plug correctly fitted with a 3 amp fuse for the CD player it is attached to. However, the live wire has pulled back from the screw terminal to the point of making negligible contact. The screw terminal was loose, and almost certainly had never been tightened down properly when the plug was fitted to the appliance.

O. M. G!
A UK 13amp plug with the top removed showing a number of serious faults. The cable clamp is barely pinching the two single-insulated inner conductors when it should be clamping the outer insulation of the cable. An excessive length of outer insulation has been removed instead of the minimum necessary to allow the inner conductors to be terminated onto the terminals. And to compound matters, an excessive length of insulation has been removed from both inner conductors leaving the exposed copper conductors almost touching. Proper practice would be to leave those conductors insulated all the way to the terminals, only removing enough insulation to allow the copper conductors to enter the terminals and be screwed into place. To cap everything, the screw on the left hand terminal had not been tightened down. Finally, the 13 amp fuse fitted to the plug was grossly oversized for the connected load.

🤬 Massive price increase on Costello cheese at Morrison's supermarket. The packs have been reduced in size from 150g to 100g, but they're selling them at the same price as before. Fuming!
Two Castello Danish Blue cheese packs side by side, showing the difference in size. The nearest one is one third shallower then the other, and the contents are labelled 100g instead of the 150g of the older pack. Yet they are still being sold at £2.79 per pack, which was the price of the 150g pack and is still visible on the Morrison website - at time of writing.Screen shot of the Castello Danish Blue cheese 150g pack taken from their website showing the price of the 150g pack as £2.79.Till receipt showing the £2.79 rate for the two-thirds sized packs of Castello Danish Blue cheese.

This is an interesting one. There's no doubt that most of the media operates an omerta, as far as the Lib Dems are concerned. Davey has been getting around that with silly stunts, but it encourages dismissal for lack of seriousness. But hey! Remember who also did this? A lot?

Well, the snow turned to rain in the evening so there’s been some volumetric decline. But if frost comes again soon it’ll become lethal on the roads and pavements.
The structure of the garden bench is recognisable now, but there’s still a good 450mm of snow on top that looks a bit like that extra thick icing you get on wedding cakes.

Voting to trigger Article 50 to be actioned set the scene for all that followed. And it was appalling:
A spreadsheet detailing the three main parties' voting record on Brexit issues. On 34 of 37 votes, Labour abstained. None of the other two main parties abstained on any of the votes. Labour voted For to trigger Article 50 and twice For to approve the Tories' Brexit timetables, both of which went hopelessly awry. The Lib Dems (and the SNP, not shown in this spreadsheet, possibly Plaid Cymru) were the only ones to consistently oppose the rush to Brexit.

Classic example of the depth of ignorance in the UK about the EU, what it is and what it's purpose is. Reminiscent of David Davis and his ludicrous claims about German car manufacturers dictating Brexit terms to the EU. Sadly, I think this lunacy of ignorance also pervades much of Westminster.
screenshot of a post in which the (English) author claims that the Trade and Cooperation Agreement could have been concluded more to the UK's advantage by negotiating with each of the remaining 28 members rather than the EU itself. This was, of course, an utter impossibility for all the things that mattered to the UK.

For some time I subscribed to Nick Wallis's newsletter about the Post Office Horizon scandal, and generally thought him a good egg. Then he posted this out to all his subscribers. The irony of defending a criminally vilified group, then falling for the CIS-gender trans hate campaign. Unsubscribed.
Extract from Nick Wallis's newsletter in which he promotes talks by "gender critical women who have a fascinating take on the new orthodoxy we have been living under". He goes on to say "If you believe humans can't change sex and you haven't yet been able to say so in polite company - come along to Manchester on Saturday and be among nice people who have all had the same bewildering experience."
