CBT-I may help during hypnotic tapering, but the evidence for actually getting people off medication is less clear. Zhang et al.’s meta-analysis of 13 RCTs found no reliable improvement in complete benzodiazepine/Z-drug discontinuation, despite some benefit for insomnia symptoms. buff.ly/tH1HFy9

Fear learning may actually make some hippocampal representations more similar. In mice, Rozeske et al. found greater threat/neutral overlap in ventral CA1, which predicted faster reinstatement of the fear memory. Might be why it's harder to overwrite those memories! buff.ly/06J8o4X

Sleep beliefs may shape behavior even when sleep itself doesn’t change. In an experimental study, Chu et al. told participants they had slept either well or poorly; those told they slept poorly behaved less prosocially on a behavioral task—not bc they became more overtly aggressive. buff.ly/rcOg3X4

Digital CBT-I can expand access, but accessibility isn’t automatic. In a case study, Van Rossen et al. found sleep efficiency improved from 63% to 87%, while sound-based alarms and other treatment features created avoidable barriers for a deaf patient. Accessibility is key! buff.ly/HqqGxLT

Can what we think about before sleep shape our dreams? Holder & @wamsleylab.bsky.social found that reactivating emotional autobiographical memories shifted subsequent dream emotion, but dreaming about those memories did not reduce overnight emotional reactivity.
