I never thought I’d find a TV character I enjoy as much as Eleanor Shellstrop, and I haven’t, but Jackson Lamb is a very close second.

A hot take I genuinely believe is that the 1v1 hoops circuit is the most slept-on sports internet entity and it has massive potential/staying power.

This was the most difficult, and most important thing I've ever written. This is the obituary for my father, Joe. I hope it captures his true essence. www.trippfuneralhome.com/obituaries/j...

Can’t wait to see what an AI company plans to do for its “new digital content series about building and playing in Boston”

When I see people claim that AI is “getting there” on journalism and art, it makes me far less likely to believe that AI is “getting there“ in medical fields.

I believe that this guy is not doing galaxy-brained marketing because I also believe that people who spend too much time using LLMs are giving themselves Computer CTE.

I often think about the character Death in "The Sandman" and how whenever she collects someone, they always ask for just a little longer - to apologize, to say goodbye, etc. - and they can't have it, and I often think about how that would feel at the wheel of a car. Anyway, this shouldn't exist.

You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take, but you also miss like 60-70% of the shots you do take, which is why the volume shooters have it right.

Man, Messi's message to his dad obliterated me. "You were by my side from the very beginning; there was so little left until the end. Why couldn’t you hold on just a little longer so we could finish it together?"

Notably, the Trump administration just canceled NOAA's annual Arctic Report Card, which offers a really in-depth and scientific look at the health of the Arctic. Last year's is, predictably, pretty grim reading. arctic.noaa.gov/report-card/...

I am, once again, not allowed to voice any opinions publicly, but I will say my wife has worked very hard canvassing for a candidate over the last few weeks here in Michigan and I am very proud and supportive of her efforts, so today is a very big day.

It's certainly possible that the Sixers win 60+ games and cruise to the title, but I personally will believe in a somewhat incoherent super team with tons of ball handlers when I see it.

My VAR take is that it, like every other form of replay in every other sport, is going nowhere because of sports gambling.

One thing I will say is that the US youth soccer system is certainly flawed, but I am interested to see where we’re at in like 15 years, because there are some very, very good 9-year-olds out there at some of these clubs.

Not to be overly downer, but I’m hesitant to overstate the accomplishments of the USMNT when their wins were Australia, Paraguay and Bosnia and Herzegovina, and their losses were Turkiye (already out) and Belgium (4-1, outclassed).

"A 2028 first round pick (the LA Clippers' own) that, if it is top 16, instead becomes the unprotected right for Boston to swap its currently-held 2028 first round pick (the worst of Boston's and San Antonio's) with the better of the LA Clippers' or (if PHI's is top 8) PHI's 2028 first round pick."

It was wild watching the poor Mexican player with the destroyed ankle receive an increasingly large amount of medical attention every time the camera panned to that side of the field.

There are going to be like 12 minutes of stoppage time and Mexico is going to be exponentially more desperate every minute that passes, we're gonna see some things we've never seen before over the next like 15 minutes.

I love late goals like Neymar’s because they make everything that happened previously so much more consequential. Suddenly Haaland’s second goal is the game-winner instead of just insurance, and Bruno G’s saved PK is an even more unmitigated disaster.

The Celtics have a really good and coherent big rotation.

Tom Westerholm @tomwesterholm.bsky.social · 02/07/2026
Some semantics are at work here (and some ownership covering their backsides), but it's probably a fair distinction - the Celtics aren't cost-cutting, they are creating a path to make a run at an expensive superstar in the summer of 2027.

You have to think of it in the metaphysical sense, an effort to let the fates decide because the humans have shied away from their responsibility. They’re given an extra 30 mins to get a victory. And if not, then we invite the chaos of the universe to do what it will.

I wonder if Jaylen gave the Celtics a hush-hush heads up that he would prefer to be traded, and Giannis was Brad's first stab at it.

That Heat roster is not very scary for several of the reasons I probably wouldn’t have involved myself in the Giannis sweepstakes in the first place.
