2027 Hyundai Tucson Goes Hard After RAV4 & CR-V With Tech and New Hybrid System #automobile
The all-new 2027 Hyundai Tucson is bigger, bolder, and considerably smarter. Hyundai revealed its fifth-generation Tucson in New York City, and I got an up-close look at the new hybrid system, the more capable XRT PRO trim, and the new Pleos Connect infotainment system with Gleo AI. Hyundai is clearly taking direct aim at the Toyota RAV4, Honda CR-V, and Nissan Rogue. The 2027 Tucson grows in nearly every dimension, gains more passenger and cargo space, and introduces Hyundai’s new “Art of Steel” design language. US buyers get two powertrain choices— a 187-hp 1.6-liter turbo or a new 233-hp hybrid targeting up to 42 MPG. Hybrid models can now tow up to 3,000 pounds. The new XRT PRO gets more serious about leaving pavement behind, with 8.2 inches of ground clearance, underbody protection, improved approach and departure angles, Smart Terrain Assist, Automatic Terrain Detection, Target Speed Control, and a Ground View Monitor. But one of Tucson’s biggest changes is the tech. This is the first Hyundai in the US with Pleos Connect and Gleo AI, an advanced voice assistant capable of understanding multiple commands and even determining which passenger is making a request. The 2027 Hyundai Tucson arrives in US showrooms in early 2027. Pricing hasn’t been announced. No one has driven it yet, so this is a first look, not a review. But after crawling through the new Tucson at its global reveal, there’s plenty worth talking about. Full disclosure: Hyundai brought me to New York, provided transportation, meals, and lodging.
