We had a hummingbird moth visit us as well last July. I had to look up what it was! Luckily the camera was to hand and I had time for a quick snap. #HummmingbirdMoth #Hawk-Moth #Hertfordshire

As #BirdOfTheDay is the #Robin and the alt theme is #BranchBirds here is my Christmas card robin, taken in my garden a couple of years ago.

I see #birdoftheday is the #robin and the alt theme is #birdonabranch so here we have a cute robin on a branch checking me out before getting on with a tasty snack.

It's a busy morning at the breakfast bar now the sun is out. Good to see a rare greenfinch. #Birds #GardenBirds #NorthHerts

Just seen the theme for #BirdOfTheDay is #BirdButts - reminded me of this buzzard with lunch, spotted in North Herts a while back.

A pair of blue tits were picking moss off the shed roof earlier. There's a nest box just round the corner. And half a dozen goldfinch were very interested in our cabin roof. I don't know if they were picking off moss or finding something to eat up there. Managed to get a crap picture.

Hey guitar nerds, I recently acquired this LP Junior and it's taken me a while to get 'my' sounds out of it. But I finally got there! Coaxing what you want from a single P90 is like nothing else in electric guitarland. Massive fun. Can't wait to try it with the band.

Tynemouth in the autumn. Nice memory to take my mind off endlessly depressing news and weather.

Last year's @rspb.bsky.social #biggardenbirdwatch got off to a shaky start with the arrival of this chap. My bird count was sparrowhawk 1, all others 0. This year went much better, and even the goldfinches paid a visit, the first for weeks.

Inspired by @iand777.bsky.social I know there's a lot of growing to wait for but it's a start. I have two washing up bowls to go into wilder spaces as well which I will leave to do their own thing once filled with stones and water. 2/2

Frohes Fest allerseits - my German genes mean we get to have Christmas pt 1 tonight on Christmas Eve and my English ones give us pt 2 tomorrow. Winner winner turkey dinner. The tree only went up this afternoon: house rule!

This year's model, my effort is based on something I grew up with that my German mother would produce each Advent. It's her original wooden bowl. Spaniel unimpressed. #Advent #Adventskranz #spaniel

Hope your Sunday is going as well as mine ❤️ I've finished off a really difficult translation about insider trading regs, been out to the woods to collect Christmas tree bits for this year's Adventkranz and watched Chelsea go 2 up in the first half.

I was seven then but I clearly remember our school assembly where the teacher tried to explain what had happened and how planting trees could help make it safe again. Hope our forest is still thriving! Hugs to Aberfan from Herts ♥️
