Hey Neurofolks. Where do you share your super-cool neuroimaging datasets? EEG/MEG/OPM/brainstim-flavoured Neurofolks: I would really like to hear from you specifically. Repost for visibility pretty please? 🙏

That nagging feeling you have sometimes, that there's a better thing you could be doing with your time? It's this PhD calling to you. Seriously.

Every time they played “Nine to Five” on the radio this week it turned into an unstable earworm that kept slipping into the adjacent attractor in music-space for “Heart of Glass”. But now I just learned that Dolly Parton did a *cover* of “Heart of Glass” in 2023 featuring Debbie Harry …

Okay I read a lot of papers about voluntary attention and that's the wildest title I've read for a while 😵 Gonna block out some time and get my teeth into this ASAP. Looking forward to it!

Like this?
Fig3 from the paper but with coloured circles drawn around some of the brains, and then the same coloured circles in a different configuration to illustrated the suggested format change.

Also, while I have your attention. I think you could improve the clarity of figure 3 by placing the slices from each group directly adjacent to each other. Right now the direct comparisons (like, slice X of LH and slice X of RH) are far apart and you have to keep jumping back and forth.

This has always bugged me. One in every nine humans is left-handed and we cogneuro folks just seem deeply incurious about whether and how that matters for functional brain organisation. Bravo to these authors, and interesting to see that in their specific case there aren't relevant differences.

Hi bsky! Just a question: Can mosquito bites (in Southern Europe) cause itch in a radius of like.. 15-20cm around the bites? I've never had this before... Should I be at the doctor's? 😅

Might reveal my own ignorance here... I though Github *was* a permanent repository, because it contained a commit history going back through all the previous versions of code. So you could say, 'final code for paper was commit X', and someone could clone the repo and roll it back to there. Right?

What athlete's expression will stay with you the rest of your life?
A tall, muscular white man on the right shakes the hand of a slight, older black man on the left, who is holding a large golden trophy. Both men wear matching green sweaters with yellow collars. Both men are looking directly into each others eyes and smiling in a way that conveys mutual respect and admiration.

Historical context: The white man is Francois Pienaar, captain of the South African Springboks rugby team who have just won the Rugby World Cup in 1995. The black man is Nelson Mandela, the President of South Africa at the time, and first black person to hold that office. The moment of connection tells a fascinating and complex story about race, progress, and sport. Please go and read about it; it's fascinating.

This is my intuition. Ground-truth: rhythms are continuous. They *appear* regularly spaced due to the tools we use to resolve them. Kinda like how there are older DTI papers saying 'white matter in the brain is organised like a grid', because 90' crossings are the easiest to resolve...
