Your Friday Frigate The 52 gun USS Congress was launched in 1841 in Portsmouth, Maine and served the US Navy around the world for two decades. While on blockade duty off of Hampton Roads in 1862 she ran afoul of the confederate ironclad CSS Virginia and burned to the water line. 120 killed.
