For perspective here, Fervo’s Cape Station site in Utah was permitted for exploratory drilling in 2023. If this gets completed on schedule, they’ll have added 20% of Utah’s power generation in five years.

Tunnels, bridges, power lines, small hydro - infrastructure central 🇳🇴 This is about a $50 million dollar tunnel serving a small surf town with about 20 permanent residents. Trollfjord I hydro is 3.2 MW, 178m head, 61% CF. It’s easy when you have mountains and lots of rainfall. 🔌💡

That’s equivalent to the volume of a Deer Creek Reservoir each year. Or you can think of it as 6% of the state’s consumptive water use. We’re not done, but this is a big deal. If we’re going to refill the lake before the Olympics, we need a couple of interventions at this scale each year.
