Tom @tomkanemn.bsky.social · 09/10/2026My favorite description of it is “Darth Vader’s lake cabin.” I don’t remember who the author of the quote is but they nailed it. 020
Tom @tomkanemn.bsky.social · 09/10/2026Your clean out product was different than mine. Each round was 2-3 quarts of Gatorade with stuff in it. Hopefully I’ll get the good stuff you got next time. 000
Tom @tomkanemn.bsky.social · 09/10/2026Your prep experience was what I was trying for. Unfortunately, morning of, things weren’t clear enough. When I called the clinic, they had me do a second round and rescheduled my morning appointment to late afternoon. Things went well, but I essentially went 48 hours w/ only clear liquid. 100
Tom @tomkanemn.bsky.social · 08/10/2026Isn’t this largely dependent on which side spots the other first? At the very least it allows them to avoid engaging in suboptimal situations in terms of location, winds, and so on. 000

Tom @tomkanemn.bsky.social · 04/10/2026Since they already were weak in terms of critical thinking, they were easy targets for advertisers who used flattery to make sales. The revenue from advertising allowed the sites catering to them to up their game in terms of appearing legitimate and formed a feedback loop. 030
Tom @tomkanemn.bsky.social · 04/10/2026It let marketing departments treat them as a demographic thanks to social media’s capacity to “micro-target”. If you wanted to sell things to flat-earthers in the 80’s you had to go through a handful of monthly amateur newsletters. Now you just use AdWords. 151

Tom @tomkanemn.bsky.social · 12/09/2026The EU novels are where Lucas let things go off the rails. He didn’t have anyone managing the canon of his universe and setting guard rails (No. You. Can’t. Kill. Chewbacca.) Some stuff was solid like Zahn’s original trilogy and the Wedge/X-wing books, but other stuff got out of control. 100
Tom @tomkanemn.bsky.social · 12/09/2026The Last Jedi would have been much better if they had met up with Lando instead of introducing Del Toro’s character. The casino planet was exactly the kind of place he would have haunted. 110
Tom @tomkanemn.bsky.social · 12/09/2026I look at how Disney held a story arc together over a decade plus with the Marvel franchise. Different directors got to make different types of films that still execute an extend plot. W/ SW they couldn’t keep an arc on track from TFA through TLJ to RoS. 210

Tom @tomkanemn.bsky.social · 08/09/2026I’m trying to decide which is more disturbing; actually being dutch ovened by a Klingon or that “Klingon Dutch oven” is a euphemism for something else. 140
Tom @tomkanemn.bsky.social · 07/09/2026Looking at the MTC H line plan I’m not sure what their goal is. It runs from Sun Ray to Target Field. That long a stretch needs to have dedicated local and express options. Express stops every mile and local stops every block. Both frequent. 000
Tom @tomkanemn.bsky.social · 07/09/2026Absolutely. Transit is a network. It should have both BRT/LRT limited stop express service and some form of local. And absolutely yes to frequency, imho routes become much less useful when the interval is greater than every 15 minutes. Service so frequent you don’t need a time table is ideal. 022
Tom @tomkanemn.bsky.social · 07/09/2026All the low density warehousing, office parks, parking lots, etc should be prime candidates for RE-development into multi story mixed use commercial/reidential. Robust transit connections to the downtowns and major N-S routes like Snelling and 280 are trivial along it. 300
Tom @tomkanemn.bsky.social · 07/09/2026Transit economically benefits property along its route. Como from Rice to 280 seems to be doing just fine. Expanded transit access along Front-EP could increase investment and growth along that corridor. Couple it with an E-W BRT on Larpenteur. 110

Tom @tomkanemn.bsky.social · 05/09/2026The trick is to embrace the second trip from the start. Buy the parts you “know” you need and then buy more. Spares, adapters in case you got the size wrong. Stuff your “pretty sure” you have left over from last time. When you make the 2nd trip you get the last things you need and return the extra. 110

Tom @tomkanemn.bsky.social · 03/09/2026I chalk it up to artistic license. If the writers hadn’t had the ear get ripped off by the bars, they would have had to extend the fight scene until it happened some other way. Basically that ear was fucked the moment that guy tied his tie. 110
