There is simply no future for Syracuse Football in the 21st century. Fran’s first season was lightning in a bottle and there is nothing better possible. A 10 win seasons once per decade is as good as this school can ever be. Sucks.

Syracuse is a difficult place to win meaningful games at consistently for any coach. That said, a well-coached team wins that game today easily. I’m not bailing totally on Fran yet, but things are not trending upward.

A big part of Fran’s problem is that he doesn’t know what his identity/philosophy as a coach is. Syracuse is a hard place to try and figure that out, because you have to kind of grasp at straws to try and make things work.
