A few years ago I ordered some merchandise, and never got it. It was ultimately tracked, and the USPS had delivered it to someone whose street address matched mine (same street name and number)- in a city in New Jersey! As we start the new hydrological year, most of El Paso County, Texas is in the lowest level of drought, "abnormally dry."

El Paso Airport totalled 5.84 inches of precipitation this monsoon season: to dive deeper I looked at data from CoCoRaHS rain gauges around El Paso County. Almost all totalled in the 7 to 8 inch range, a wet rainy season.Looks like over 9.5 inches in the West Side Lower Valley was the wettest. #txwx

The 5.84 inches of rain in El Paso, Texas between June 15 and September 30, 2026 made for the wettest official "monsoon season" in four years, since 2022. #txwx

Tom Gill @tomgillpredicts.bsky.social · 01/10/2026
Most monsoon seasons El Paso, TX gets about 3¼ to 6½ inches of rain. In 2026, El Paso picked up 5.84", making a decent rainy season. If you add the 1.35" that fell literally hours before the "official" start of the monsoon on June 15th, the 7.19" would put us in the wettest 25% of all years. #txwx

Tom Gill @tomgillpredicts.bsky.social · 01/10/2026
El Paso, TX formally picked up 4.44" of rain last month. That's the most in Sept. since 2006, the year longtime El Pasoans remember as the "Great Flood." It's an entire monsoon's worth of rain in one month, since most rainy seasons give El Paso about 3¼ - 6½ inches of rain. #txwx

Tom Gill @tomgillpredicts.bsky.social · 01/10/2026
El Paso, Texas formally picked up 4.44" of rain last month. Though a nuisance, it was needed, since June-July-August rains in El Paso were spotty and mostly subpar. It was basically half a year's worth of rain in one month, since our annual average precipitation is ~8.7 inches. #txwx

El Paso went through the whole astronomical summer of 2026 with the afternoon high temperature every single day reaching at least 90 degrees F. The 90 or higher degree streak went from June 6 through September 21. #txwx

The temperature in El Paso, Texas dropped to 57 degrees F this morning. It's the first time since May 27 that it dropped below 60. We went through the entire summer and the entire monsoon season with temperatures of 62F or above. #txwx
