How dare they meet with the low-status people who have done harm. And not just the high-status people who have done harm (and probably never faced any consequences).

It's happening in different places with different wifi. It's never been good with posting while on data, but now it's happening frequently. (I'm at home now, switched to my tablet, and so far everything is fine; so maybe a cell issue...)

What pisses me off SO MUCH is that *there is so much work to be done in this country!* I see it in my job! But nobody wants to pay anyone to do it. Not co-incidentally the work that needs to get done tends to be support, service, nurturing work. (Time to log off and lower my blood pressure)

My Bluesky ap is so buggy. It often refuses to post, especially if there's a link. I can't see any new update — it seems to be a connectivity issue? Just the way it is? (I mean, it gives me time to correct spelling etc, or add a thought. Like this thought.) (Waiting waiting)

Holy shit, @ettemedia.bsky.social's We Used To Be Journos podcast just got interrupted by an ad for ACT (our increasingly fascist far-Right party)! I wonder how the algorithm chooses the ads? They had a LOT of Xero ads after that sexual harassment scandal too...

I'm all for councils enforcing towing for cars left parked across the footpath (but I doubt if they ever would go against the entitlement of drivers). Imagine the rage of drivers if pedestrians stopped in the road to have a chat!

In social situations this is the one and only area where people who tend towards voting for the right and I can always agree! Possibly because they have travelled and lived in other countries, and experienced good rail?

Bloody hell. This is not, as Simeon Brown has claimed, doing everything to get enough nurses on the ground. It’s the opposite. #nzpol “The Government has told nursing schools to train fewer nurses next year.” www.stuff.co.nz/politics/361...

I appreciate that all of these guys' solutions to the mens' reading crisis is to walk up to vulnerable little boys and hand them footballs, but could we FOR ONE SINGLE SECOND stop to unpack the fact that the default definition of "masculine readers" for lots of these pundits is: "assholes"?

I am so sick of 'How Will You Pay For It?' being so unquestioningly accepted. Especially when it's used to deny us urgently needed services such as health and social welfare. I want to shout back HOW CAN WE AFFORD NOT TO DO THIS Government should be about contingency, not economy (i.e. trickle-up)

Because NZ's covid response was world leading and valued lives over money without the sky falling in, the Epstein Class cartel made Jacinda Ardern a target last election year. NZ sidestepped the vicious misogynist attack campaign that they were laying the groundwork for by standing down. 1/2 #NZPol

(And sometimes you're told to rate other groups' presentations! Why do people think competition makes everything more fun?) Everyone's brain works differently but I'd much prefer to have that hour spent on the trainers presenting the topics, perhaps with open discussions as we go.

I went to a training day recently and I really find break-out groups a waste of time. We spend ten minutes doing a surface examination of one aspect of the topic, then are busy anticipating/post-analysing our presentation. I'm never able to take in other groups' presentations of their topics.

Last summer I read a bunch of old whodunnits, and one of the things that stood out was how easily characters could get from place to place because there was always a train heading in that direction in the next few hours. That wasn't just narrative convenience, it was a real thing! It was real here!

And cheap, readily available transportation around the motu should be a public service, not a business proposition (Winston). People are trapped in their districts.
