Little useless-useful R functions – Honest geographical location signposts
We have all seen colourful signposts with great cities and their distances - how far each is from this current standpoint. And fundamental question is, how correct these distances are? Or even, one should ask, how honest a particular signpost is, regarding the current standpoint. So let's put this utterly most fundamental question to the test 🙂 And since it is vacation time, you can grab the R code and check it yourself 🙂 Image stumbling upon the post and wanted to check if this post is really relevant for this location.

Little useless-useful R functions – Jug solver with Bezout’s Identity
We all were presented with this problem - water jug problem, which - in the time of Football world cup 2026 - can be translated to any liquid. *hint hint* But the riddle is as logical as mathematical. With mathematics finding the greatest common divisor. In general, it can be used with state search or Depth First Search (DFS). With DFS we can solve this with Bezout's identity; which in general is a theorem which relates two arbitraty integers with their greatests common divisor; and used in algebraic language, finding common zeros of n-polznomials in n-indeterminates.

Little useless-useful R functions – Ulam Prime Spiral
Stanislaw Ulam, Los Alamos, 1963 was bored in a meeting and he started dooddling integers in a spiral and circled the primes. Diagonal lines appeared. He later showed it to Martin Gardner, to Ulam surprise, Gardner published his findings in Scientific American. We are still confused to this day. Ulam prime spiral (or short Ulam spiral) with dimensions of 150 x 150 and total of 2547prime numbers (11.2 % coverage). But Ulam was not doodling some little houses or boats, or cars like a normal person. No. He wrote numbers in a spiral.

Little useless-useful R functions – Desk plant simulator
This time, we will create a Desk plant simulator. And for that we need a set of different functions 🙂 Yes, we will grow a R plant in a simulation game with lots of twerks and hidden gems and ASCII art 🙂 And how this set of functions really work? Storing the daily progress in an RDS. Before running set of functions, you will prepare a location to store the RDS file (environment variables and game play) .plant_file <- path.expand("~/.r_desk_plant.rds") ASCII art was done by GPT for all the stages and it is so nice 🙂

CoPilot in SSMS reads from my database/sql server instance, but doesn't show me any executed queries. This is *so* dangerous for your production data - CoPilot could just pass some of your sensitive data to the LLM provider... #ai #llm #datasecurity #gdpr

LazyMouse – R package for randomly moving mouse cursor
New R Package called LazyMouse with single function for randomly moving mouse cursor in your favorite R IDE. For every R developer, R data scientists and all those everyday R users, that also need a break and do not want the computer to go into sleep mode. To install the package, use: install.packages("remotes") remotes::install_github("tomaztk/LazyMouse") The complete installation (with all dependencies and packages preinstalled), can be found in the details on my github repository LazyMouse and the file: Install_package.r. For better convenience have RTools installed as well in your working environment and have Rcpp, remotes and devtools. Happy R coding
