Spike the Bulldog is the 'bigger fish' of the Tom & Jerry theatricals, going all the way back to 1942. Voiced by Billy Bletcher in the 1940s, and Daws Butler in the 1950s.
Often Jerry would provoke Spike, but Spike would think it was Tom, and take out his anger on Tom
