What Did They Think Was Going To Happen?
When I was younger, we used to pride ourselves that we had the longest undefended land border in the world with Canada. The border runs along the line between people’s yards in Blaine, Washington/

That MF SOB Trump doesn't deserve so much as a leaking rowboat in his name.

If they wanted to pick a movie that is appropriate to Donald Trump, I'll suggest "Dumb and Dumber" -- he could fill both roles, with plenty of dumbness left over.

Another reminder that MAGAs are incredibly dumb and completely ignorant about what our actual rights are.

Amazing how totally the right-wing flipped on those things when it came to Covid. Turns out that crapping all over civil rights in the name of public health is only okay if they're not personally inconvenienced and the people who are inconvenienced mostly belong to groups they hate.

Since Plano actually believes in maintaining city assets, this would certainly solve the problem.

Saw this quote from Trump in today's Washington Post. Utterly incoherent -- except for the last sentence, it's impossible to even figure out what the rest of it is supposed to mean. And yet his supporters have the nerve to accuse Kamala Harris of speaking in "word salad".

Strange definition of neutrality, because I can't help but notice that anti-gay and anti-abortion speakers are protected, but pro-gay and pro-choice speakers are not.

Certainly, it could get a teacher or college prof in trouble if they taught this information to their students in a Texas high school or public university.

I think this is so accurate. The elites have utterly failed the moment, while everyday Americans have ended up being the people who are standing up against Trump.

Oh, absolutely. And they've been this way for decades. Back in the 80s, I remember that "love the sinner, hate the sin" crowd telling jokes and laughing about the way that AIDS killed gay men in the ugliest possible way. So this is what they've always been.

How do Americans now perceive Trump. The following is courtesy of YouGov by way of Daily Kos. It's a shame that the U.S. electorate hadn't figured this out back in 2024 when it would have made a difference.

That's typical -- the only problems that Trump is capable of "solving" are the ones that he caused in the first place. And he still does a crappy job.

To be clear, when that crowd screamed "Don't Tread on Me", they meant it literally -- it only applied to them. Treading on the right of us is perfectly fine with them, perhaps even desirable.

I suspect that a lot of Americans would quietly cheer if Canada did that. But Canada won't, because unlike the U.S., they aren't governed by a bunch of fucking morons who are too goddamned stupid to consider the long-term consequences of what they're doing.

A small UHF independent station in the 80s (as parodied in Weird Al's) film got a higher audience share than any broadcast or cable network today. Just a reminder of how much smaller (in every way) CBS and its news department are compared to what they were in the past.

The sick irony is that these are the same people that want to post the Ten Commandments in classrooms and who put up big monuments to them. Meanwhile, they worship a president who has violated most of those commandments.
