Toliver @toliver.bsky.social · 16hYep it was bad up there. Banner Elk was cut off for about a month. The only way out was by helicopter. 100
Toliver @toliver.bsky.social · 10/10/2026The weather guessers keep upping the amount of rain and the speed of the wind, then saying we'll be okay because there will be breaks. Everyone up here has PTSD from Helene still, me included. Can't deal with another flooded house. 110
Toliver @toliver.bsky.social · 10/10/2026I've got pitchers of water, oil lamps, candles, a camping stove w/fuel, cushions brought in and chairs flipped. I'm ready for the remains of the hurricane to come up to the mountains. Plus took covid and flu vaccines. If the weather is going to be bad, might as well stay on the sofa. 110
Toliver @toliver.bsky.social · 06/10/2026Yes, thank you! I stopped breaking everything I touched, the locksmith came to fix the door and the meds kicked in so I'm pain free. Tomorrow I'm going to the rheumatologist and lay this all out for her. I'm sorry you have that pain in your hands. It is no joke. 110
Toliver @toliver.bsky.social · 05/10/2026So far this morning I've broken a cup, spilled coffee on a white rug and somehow broken the lock on the storm door so I can't open it. It's only 7:30am. 100
Toliver @toliver.bsky.social · 04/10/2026I hobbled to the car and my daughter fetched a wheel chair for me. I literally felt like I was stuck with a dagger over and over. Nerve pain is something else. 110
Toliver @toliver.bsky.social · 03/10/2026So angry! I thought my suddenly super painful hip was the problem but it is the nerves in my back! What the what? And may I just say that this nerve pain is like a 10 on a scale of 1-10. The doc just winced and smiled. Ugh. 110
Toliver @toliver.bsky.social · 30/09/2026I found my first wooly worm, Buckeyes are dropping, and the varmints are out and about in the evening gathering food for the winter. Fall is here! At the first cold snap, the mice try to move into my house. Happens every year. I'm NOT looking forward to that! 000
Toliver @toliver.bsky.social · 30/09/2026Oops I forgot, one must also get fancy things to carry said pens in! 110
Toliver @toliver.bsky.social · 30/09/2026Happy landings! It is a fun hobby to have and you can go so many ways with it, too. Ink, pens, paper, journals (stickers, washi tape, stamps, artwork), calligraphy, writing hands. I've taken many of those side paths. 111
Toliver @toliver.bsky.social · 29/09/2026Privatization, man, the only ones who benefit are corporations, not people. 010
Toliver @toliver.bsky.social · 29/09/2026The people I've talked to don't think that the Republicans will vote for Democrats (everyone thinks, including Dems, they are a mess right now) but that they will just not vote. 020
Toliver @toliver.bsky.social · 20/09/2026I like to use seasonal colors in my fountain pens too. 3-4 of them, makes me happy. Orange, fall brown and olive green, this year. 130
Toliver @toliver.bsky.social · 20/09/2026Get the Bonne Maman jelly/jam advent calendar. My SIL gave me one last year and it provided so much fun. I saved all the jam to share with the kids and grandkids when they came and it was a huge hit. Every morning they got to choose a new jam to try. 011
Toliver @toliver.bsky.social · 20/09/20262-3 days before it cools off to where it should be this time of year and I can't wait. I am looking forward to having a fire in the evening to take the chill off, drinking hot tea, wearing long sleeves and thinking a pot of chili would hit the spot. I love the fall. 010
Toliver @toliver.bsky.social · 19/09/2026My house is set up for first floor living and people with mobility issues, due entirely to the couple who owned the place before me. I wouldn't have thought of the things they did, like easy open door handles and a vanity for wheel chair access. No need to go upstairs. 121
Toliver @toliver.bsky.social · 18/09/2026My dog notices/watches tv, mostly with no reaction, but last night when a squirrel came on, he was off the sofa and after it like a shot. It disappeared and he was left wondering if it was coming back or what. I've never had a dog that notices tv. Never. 111
Toliver @toliver.bsky.social · 18/09/2026I can't forgive him for going to Samoa and spreading anti-vax misinformation. His "natural experiment" of a contained population without vaccination caused 83 people to die. apnews.com/article/rfk-...apnews.com 041
Toliver @toliver.bsky.social · 11/09/2026When the Soccer grandson got hurt on the field last night by another boy, I did not get a Yellow or Red Ticket for beating the tar out of him or yelling obscenities. The other kid did it on purpose. Road Rage is nothing next to the rage of a Grandma. I think I deserve credit for that. 020
Toliver @toliver.bsky.social · 09/09/2026I'm thinking if it replaces both my iPad and iPhone, it isn't that bad of a deal, with some trade ins. 221
Toliver @toliver.bsky.social · 09/09/2026That's what I was thinking. I want to hold one and see if it would replace both my iPhone and iPad. I mainly use the iPad for reading now. If so, it isn't that big a deal cost wise. lol Maybe. 100

Toliver @toliver.bsky.social · 09/09/2026The tiny dog ran off with a half dozen deer, up the mountain. He didn't bark and they didn't seem to mind him joining the herd. He came home tired but happy. 010
Toliver @toliver.bsky.social · 05/09/2026Two old friends (3 really) bought dogs that were suitable for the people they were 20 years ago and now those dogs are rehoused. I told them, other people told them and they just wouldn't listen. When you are 80 you want a little cuddly dog not a big working dog you can't control or exercise. So sad 000
Toliver @toliver.bsky.social · 29/08/2026How did I arrive with 4 shoes and I'm leaving with 3? I've looked everywhere. 110
Toliver @toliver.bsky.social · 27/08/2026The Navy has always been poor at responding to the mental health of their people. They prefer to very quietly whisk problems out the door without anyone the wiser. When it gets in the newspaper, the Navy punishes them for that, rather than helping. 020
Toliver @toliver.bsky.social · 26/08/2026I've wondered about that flavor! I'll get it next time, thanks. 010
Toliver @toliver.bsky.social · 26/08/2026I think they are waiting for his return from the taxidermist. Then they will prop him up in his hospital bed or at this senate desk and pull a string when they want his vote, thinking no one will catch on. 010
Toliver @toliver.bsky.social · 26/08/2026I discovered Tillamook Oregon Strawberry ice cream this summer and It has made breaking my toe, food poisoning and everything else almost bearable. I had a bowl in honor of Dolly earlier. I think she would like that. 1100

She partly funded Moderna’s research and gave the largest individual contribution to make it all happen. Just gives you an idea of the kind of person she was. 235281297747

Toliver @toliver.bsky.social · 25/08/2026I guess the commissioned officers I heard breaking Article 88 were off duty and drinking when they did it. 150
Toliver @toliver.bsky.social · 25/08/2026She was a good person. Most of us in Appalachia know. My daughter assisted her at a Doc Watson Festival many years ago and she was kind and professional to everyone, no matter who they were. 0230
Toliver @toliver.bsky.social · 25/08/2026I love a lot of Dolly's songs but one I've played often in the last year is After the Gold Rush. She sang it with Linda Ronstadt and Emmylou Harris. Dolly sure could sing and she was a good person, more importantly. I hope she went in a silver spaceship and knows we all are cheering. 010

Toliver @toliver.bsky.social · 22/08/2026I'm recovering from food poisoning, which, BTW, is no joke. Chicken and vegetables w/fajita seasoning from my local grocery. 3 hours later I was married to my toilet. Thank you, Donald Trump. 001

Toliver @toliver.bsky.social · 20/08/2026It is an absolute disgrace. The military marches on their stomachs, to paraphrase. This isn't a new concept. Who is going to sign up for a military when Trump starves them? 000
Toliver @toliver.bsky.social · 20/08/2026The pup is still not able to walk past the spot where the dead deer was. He freaks out and shakes. I think a bear might have marked the area. Or a cougar? 000
Toliver @toliver.bsky.social · 18/08/2026Against all odds, DoT came by - this on a dirt road, mind - and picked up the half eaten dead deer. That's service, right there. That carcass smelled to high heaven. 000
Toliver @toliver.bsky.social · 08/08/2026OMG I'd forgotten what it was like to get a herd of children dressed, fed and out the door with their gear. What is their aversion to deodorant? One of them hasn't bathed in days, I don't care what he says. 010
Toliver @toliver.bsky.social · 06/08/2026It will give you joy. That's why I do it. My planner is more fun to do and look at. 110
Toliver @toliver.bsky.social · 02/08/2026I should have kept my daughter's rescue dog last Easter. He really needed my dog to show him the ropes. Now he's even more of a mess and my dog is having a time trying to get him to play and act normal. 000
Toliver @toliver.bsky.social · 31/07/2026Still ,mankind keeps testing old and new scientific principles (like gravity) and maybe over time the consensus of scientists will change, given new information. Science is not afraid to change as additional facts are proven. To me that's exciting. 010
Toliver @toliver.bsky.social · 31/07/2026Well, to you probably it is. When I drop and apple, science tells me it is going to hit the ground. I believe it because the same thing has happened to everyone for millennia who drops an apple. Science tests things, you know? Religion, not so much. 140
