I've had We Lived on the Horizon on the shelf for a long time and I'm finally reading it this week, and it's such a fantastic kind of wonderful integral weird. It's right next to me at this moment.

We lived on the horizon by Erika Swyler on top of a bunch of notebooks and behind it a Lego millennium falcon.

Not me, but I have a friend who is a PhD/MD who does infectious disease work, and he says machine learning serves him well for analyzing data sets because he doesn't have the bandwidth to also learn how to code. He also says he knows enough about the field to know when information is incorrect.
