Coding agents reduce software development to a simple matter of: * specifying requirements * verifying correctness and quality * maintaining and operating software you didn't write As we all know, those have always been the easiest, most well-understood parts of the craft, so everything is fine!

"editorial independence": if everyone thought freely they'd agree with me, you're free to do so too "don't politicize": my views are normal, so taking a different view is being political, don't do that "intellectual diversity": censor ideas I dislike, lower your standards to promote ideas I like

☕️ There’s an intersection in Rocky Ripple that has Illinois St Food Emporium (amazing), Tinker Coffee Co. (quite good) and a Starbucks. And they **_all_** seem to get plenty of traffic. (Also, TIL that the light at Illinois and Kessler won’t trigger for a 🚴) #indy #cycling

"Polarization is Not the Problem" by @lilymasonphd.bsky.social is deservedly getting attention, and a line from it applies here: Telling "everyone to quiet down and be 'civil'... benefits those who are willing to grab as much power as they can without concern for legality or civility."

Going to Front Porch Republic next weekend. I expect there to be a mix of cool, insightful, caring people and some gonzo reactionary would-be-tyrants. Hope the former is larger than the latter.

I, too, am nostalgic for a time when I felt more carefree. When that nostalgia hits, it’s my reminder to do my part to build a world where **more of us can feel carefree more frequently**. It **is not my job** to pretend that we have already arrived.
