What's weird is that I actually watched cricket on TV for about 20 minutes or so a couple of months ago and I actually thought I was starting, sort of, to get it. But then I read something like this and I'm like, ah, what?!

It was really, really painful today to watch the spokespersons of the @ec.europa.eu refuse to answer two simple questions: Which content at #Disinfo2026 @disinfo.eu was so problematic that the EEAS withdrew its support? And who precisely took this decision audiovisual.ec.europa.eu/en/media/vid...

I used to get so hopelessly lost walking around cities or trying to get places in the car in the era before Google Maps, GPS, etc. In that respect, smart phones, technology, etc. have made things much easier.

I'm eager to see a TV reporter walk around Brussels or any major European capital asking everyday citizens when they think of the 'pact against gold plating' that Von der Leyen just mentioned.

Maybe others have thought of this, but I can't help but notice that Trump is talking about a $5,000 dividend, but generally speaking a company has to make a profit to issue a dividend. The US hasn't run a surplus in a generation, more or less, right?

These are really good tips for moderators. Another one I'd add would be to ask ahead of time about room set-up. Are we standing? Seated? With a table? Without a table? Hand-held mics? Ear-piece mics? Will I get a cue from someone when to start? All helpful things to know before taking the stage.

I know it's not the main issue, but I'm noticing that English-language media can't seem to agree on whether Ceuta is an 'exclave' or an 'enclave.' I guess 'exclave' is technically more accurate, right?

Makes me think of a late family friend who lived in a very nice neighborhood near San Francisco. He told me once that if he had waited five more minutes to evacuate, he would have died in a big fire that hit that region in the fall of 1991. Nobody is entirely safe. We are all mortal humans.

As an editor and media observer, I am legitimately curious as to how NPR (a news organization with a reputation for professionalism and accuracy) could erroneously publish that a Supreme Court justice is retiring. To use polite language, that's a massive screw up, a cautionary tale for us all.

Would I be right also to assume that at the BOE in the 1990s, probably also today, gents, even during the hottest summer days, would be expected to show up to work in a (dark) suit and tie?

Ha. When I was learning French in my US high school in the 1990s the teacher said the French tended to overdress. We took a school trip to France in April. It was probably 25C in Nice and, as if on cue, I still remember this older gentleman sitting on a bench, full sweater and dress shirt.

As Europe gets hotter, Europeans will have to learn the trick that Americans (especially from the southern US) have known for ages: Buildings can be 'over air conditioned,' so you sometimes, oddly, have to pack a (light) sweater even when it's super hot outside.

The article says the commissioners are worried about making 'sensitive calls' in the train, but, yes in a perfect world, the train would be the solution to this problem. That is if the trip to Strasbourg has to happen in the first place!

Journalists: Remember that 'Court issues ruling' or 'Agency issues statement' generally isn't the news and you shouldn't lead with this. The news is what the court rules, what the agency issues, etc. Thank you for your attention to this matter, your editors.
