I learned this last night while trying to find out how much all the annoying ads on my local station cost. By federal law, candidates get "most favored nation" status when purchasing ad time on local stations. So, whatever sweetheart deal the station gives to its high-volume purchasers... 1/2

To answer his question: Because we import all sorts of goods from abroad. If we cut off diesel exports, all those goods will become VASTLY more expensive, because the foreign suppliers' costs will go up, and they'll have to pass those costs on to us.

OpenAI runs out of money sometime in 2027. When it does, Oracle and SoftBank both immediately collapse, and Amazon, Microsoft, and NVIDIA (among others) will be forced to write off tens of billions of dollars. Unclear whether Anthropic manages to escape the blast radius, but I'm not optimistic.

Exactly. This is one reason I'm not trying to short anything, or even staying in the market until the crash happens. I've pulled everything into capital preservation, which barely outpaces inflation. I've missed out on a few months of rampant returns, but between Iran and AI, a crash is certain.
