It's me, the mythical STEM PhD who not only took history classes but got a whole history degree! Studying history is arguably one of the most important things STEM students can do. Science isn't done in a vacuum, and students should investigate the people, places, and events that shape it.

Doesn't surprise me that this is their (garbage) take But it does remind me that so many social movements (successful and failed alike) were driven by underemployed, overcredentialed, and aggrieved young people, even movements that primarily benefit other groups we're dangerous to the WSJ types [contains quote post or other embedded content]

The whole point of humans as a sociable, tribal species is we should eject people like this, so they starve in the wilderness alone. There are consequences to sociopathic behaviour. Somehow the abstract idea of money has short circuited our basic evolutionary safeguards. [contains quote post or other embedded content]

BRICS went from 21.9% of world income in 2011 to 28.9% in 2025.
Now take out China.
The other ten members went from 11.9% to 11.5%.
They did not rise. They fell.

China is 72% of the entire increase in BRICS income, and 94% of the increase in its goods exports.
Strip out China and the four oil exporters, and the six that remain were 5.1% of world goods exports in 2011 — and 5.1% in 2023. Twelve years - Nothing.

Three members are absolutely poorer in dollar terms than in 2011:
Iran −2.6% a year South Africa −1.4% Brazil −0.4%
