Thanks, Owl! I recorded this so long ago, but I recall much of it just happening by accident. My favorite ones always seem to go like that.

Another October album for me. This one was released in winter, but the cover art disagrees 🙂 Rob Crow - Living Well (2007) #NowSpinning #CdCollection #RobCrow

Actually, right after I sent that last reply, I remembered how you despise 80s music. This definitely has an 80s sound to it, so the fact that you'd accept it as background music is positive in my book 🙂

Negative Sleep @tmchambers.bsky.social · 04/10/2026

I'd start with this one, actually. That's just me, though. I'd go straight to "We Own the Sky" and see if it gels. I think it will!

Oh man, I highly recommend this one if you haven't heard it!

October sounds. This album was released in the spring, but I always associate it with fall, for obvious reasons. M83 - Saturdays = Youth (2008) #NowSpinning #CdCollection #M83

I discovered both Daniel Johnston and Slint via that soundtrack. It remains my favorite movie soundtrack, but I have no interest in ever watching that film again!

😂 That'll be the last time I say that! I hear Americana, and my brain goes straight to that damn lemonade mix.

My favorite PJ Harvey album. Love this one 👍

The Flenser. This one took a looong time for me to get into, but I'm finally there. I'm loving the new live release.

011

Negative Sleep @tmchambers.bsky.social · 04/10/2026

Exactly. If I really wanted to go for it, I'd have to go back to my elementary school days and cite Vanilla Ice and Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch 😂

You are super kind, man 🙂 Nearly everything I listen to would be called weird by most, so I will agree with that sentiment.

#My9Albums Jumping on this train. Not my top 9, but 9 that got to me in high school and college that definitely had a lasting impact. I suppose mine looks a bit cliche, but I'm OK with that 🙂

Oh man, this is great! Sounds like it was airlifted right out of the 90s. The song is really excellent and the production sounds phenomenal to me. First time using the DAW!

010

Negative Sleep @tmchambers.bsky.social · 03/10/2026

Definitely. I remember buying this soon after it came out and being floored by how each song seemed to just get better than the next.

All great. Good to see that Idlewild. I love that album!

Nice! Sounds like it could have been written by Robert Pollard himself.

Some more of those Country Time Lemonade vibes 🙂 Seriously, though, a beautifully written song. Excellent 👌

There are a handful of songs I really love that came after Up, but I do think it was their last really good album 👍

I very much enjoyed this R.E.M. era.

110

Negative Sleep @tmchambers.bsky.social · 03/10/2026

Thanks. I'd have to completely relearn the song at this point, and you'd surely play it better 🙂

Thanks. Now I can stop worrying about that copyright infringement lawsuit!

You're good! Teen Spirit was the one.

110

Negative Sleep @tmchambers.bsky.social · 03/10/2026

Thanks 🙂 Years after I recorded and released this, I played it one day and immediately thought I had ripped off a very popular song with that verse melody. I figured you'd catch that if it weren't just in my head. Nothing rang a bell?

120

Negative Sleep @tmchambers.bsky.social · 03/10/2026

Ah yes, that Brian. Sometimes I lose track of who's who on here. His song last week was excellent. And going by my recollection of his voice, I'm assuming he sings on the last track of your new album? That song really stood out for me. I need to revisit it soon.

110

Negative Sleep @tmchambers.bsky.social · 03/10/2026

This is brilliant. I'm just letting the whole album play at this point. Absolutely beautiful 👍

130

Negative Sleep @tmchambers.bsky.social · 03/10/2026

It's definitely a funky song! I appreciate how you guys explore so many genres but manage to always maintain the "Five-O sound".

120

Negative Sleep @tmchambers.bsky.social · 03/10/2026

...to fully appreciate the bass, of course, and it is quite excellent! Really cool, infectious little song 🙂

Negative Sleep @tmchambers.bsky.social · 03/10/2026

This reminds me a bit of U2's Zooropa era, but I'm probably way off with that comparison. More aesthetically than musically, I guess. I don't care for Prince (sorry, Wiz Ball 😳), so I'm hearing it devoid of that reference frame. I made it a point to cast this to my big speakers...

#HomeMadeMusic I'm realizing that way too many of my songs have flood and drought themes. There's probably a better choice to be had here, but I've always liked this weird one from 2014. negativesleep.bandcamp.com/track/where-...

Crazy busy day for me, so nothing new was explored or purchased. I'll share my recents, though. You are in good company 🙂

This album only gets played in October-- usually closer to Halloween, but I'm kind of fast-tracking things this year. It really irks me that Ryan Gosling gets to make music like this and also look like he does. The universe is unfair. Dead Man's Bones - Dead Man's Bones (2009) #NowSpinning #Vinyl

I can't believe how naive the "AI will bring prosperity to all / universal basic income is on its way" folks are. It just further consolidates wealth and will continue to do so until people are sick enough to care. That bar seems quite high, unfortunately. I'm sorry you're still struggling 🙁

010

Negative Sleep @tmchambers.bsky.social · 29/09/2026

Yes, perhaps that's why I hadn't thought about the song in ages-- blocked that time period from my memory! I do have the record and will need to give it a play soon.

I was working out this morning (I use that term loosely), and this song came on. I nearly forgot about this one. The chill-inducing outro is so ridiculously good. Thank you random chance for returning this song to me! #PearlJam youtu.be/ss6mIGfyvXM?...

Such a great song! Literally sounds like early R.E.M., the Smiths, and the Cure equally combined.

I'll be getting this out in October! Such an interesting album with a massive vibe to it 👍

000

Negative Sleep @tmchambers.bsky.social · 27/09/2026

Yes, very instrumental and ambient. And I know that's what he does, but Blister Sunrise was definitely a nod to the older, shoegaze-adjacent eras. I'll give it some repeat listens once I get it and see if I'm not swayed.

Negative Sleep @tmchambers.bsky.social · 27/09/2026

My preorder of this album is sitting at the record store, but I'm not really in a rush to go after it. I will give it a fair shot, but after streaming through once, I can't help but feel the lead single duped me. Any opinions on the new M83?

I haven't heard this in forever, but I remember it being played repeatedly on MTV.
