I feel like this is the only safe place I can say this. After Malkin dusting McDavid and the Pens thrashing the Oilers: Connor McDavid is not the best player in the world. In fact, he's actually kind of bad at the team sport. Speed and technical skill don't matter if you can't play with your team.

I just started working as a bookseller in an indie store about three months ago, but from what I'm learning this is true! We don't buy huge back stock (unless it's like Sarah J. Maas popular). But, we definitely notice when the stock we do buy leaves the shelf and we always fill it back in.

Netflix is trying to get the live action rights to Baldur's Gate 3. But, we should learn from The Last of Us season 2 that video games can just tell a better story, because of the use of player agency, than movies or shows. And that's good! Let them stand on their own. #writing #storytelling

Ran into an interesting question about whether the "Brand" of MLK has been tainted by the right enough that it stifles the fight for racial equality/ if it's time to let it go. Absolutely not. MLK was radical. It's time that we start highlighting that. There is no sterilized fight against racism.

I haven't personally read the Fourth Wing series, but this is the first time I can recall people camping out for a book release since Harry Potter and I'm so here for it. Love that so many people are excited to read something and return to a world they enjoy.

My favorite part about writing (stories, ttrpg campaigns, whatever) is the world building. But that means my biggest challenge as a writer is being patient enough to let my readers/players discover that world instead of just info dumping like some excited anthropology professor. #writingcommunity

Week 2 of 2025, 4 books read: 1) @naominovik.bsky.social 's Scholomance trilogy, which has one of the best payoffs for a character's unwanted prophecy. The foreshadowing and reveal were so good. 2) Brandon Sanderson's Mistborn, some of the richest world building I've read. Highly recommend both.
