Crew 9: We just saw the departing Crew 9 fliers sharing hugs with their station crewmates before floating into their Crew Dragon; the hatch was closed at 11:05am EDT (0305 UTC); Wilmore and Williams are in their SpaceX pressure suits; Hague and Gorbunov will follow suit shortly

Statement from NASA -- the agency is closing NASA’s Office of Technology, Policy, and Strategy; the Office of the Chief Scientist, and the Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility Branch of the Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, along with reducing their workforce.

I don't think that term is helpful in the general discourse. Thats not to say I agree with their worldview and the actions that have been taken thusfar. We've been set way back.

SpaceX appears to be targeting Friday February 28th for the next flight of Starship. As of writing Starship is still grounded by the FAA following the IFT-7 explosion, which saw a significant debris fall on multiple Caribbean islands.

Another NASA workforce update. The 5% figure taking the buyout would translate to about 900 employees (one number I've heard is 920). Also, "probationary [employee] separations will be performance-based or voluntary in accordance with agency policy."
About 5% of NASA’s workforce accepted the resignation offer in the Deferred Resignation Program. A small subset of that group was probationary employees and will be allowed to enter into the Deferred Resignation Program. After working with OPM and a careful evaluation of our workforce and mission requirements, probationary separations will be performance-based or voluntary in accordance with agency policy. The agency will continue to monitor all employee performances and take swift action as appropriate with any issues, ensuring American citizens have an excellent and efficient workforce at NASA.

I’m feeling this. Less about the politics, more about just not great people having a megaphone that they shouldn’t have. There are people who are monetizing rage culture and misinformation with no boundaries in a way that’s pretty scary.
