Postdoc in the spinal cord connections lab (Graham Lab) at Uni Newcastle Upon-thePacific (Aus) studying circuits of the Dorsal horn with a focus on projection neurons. Patching, imaging, love of fluorescent eye candy. Dad to 2 ratbags and husband to 1.

Expression of Tacr1 and Gpr83 by spinal projection neurons
Anterolateral system (ALS) projection neurons underlie perception of pain, itch and skin temperature. These cells are heterogeneous, and there have therefore been many attempts to define functional po...

So forgive me as just a naive end user of AAVs but with SIO taking up less room, larger Cre-dependent constructs can fit into the AAV?

#FluorescenceFriday has been epic! Thanks for sharing! I’ll put up a very boring characterisation of a transgenic line. Sagittal spinal section showing GC6 expression (green), inhibitory (blue/magenta)and excitatory neurons (red only)

1. These neurons target the parabrachial nucleus. They occupy a discrete column within the lateral part of lamina V, bordering on the dorsolateral funiculus and could be quite selectively targeted using retroAAV constructs. 2. Their dendrites were biased towards the lateral and ventral spinal ...

All of the good cells are found after hours and if you are prepared ie drugs thawed, you’ll never find a connection. There must be the fear of losing access or seal!
