The next generation (children and youth) flourishes because the preceding generation (adults and elders) releases the blessings of faith upon them. In turn, our faith is strengthened and matured as we share it. Being family means we all grow together.

Remind one another: We belong. We believe. We lead—as a family. You may find that God doesn’t just use one person’s gifts— but the gifts of His whole body.

20+ years ago, at SU Countdown: we explored "Choose life." I thought I understood it. I was wrong. It’s not a slogan. It’s a haunting. It’s not a one-time choice. It’s a daily disruption. It’s not about me. It’s about us. At 60, I’m still learning what it means to choose life, really choose it.

Advent cry: “Oh, that you would tear open the heavens & come down.”Isa 64:1 Bonhoeffer reminds us Christmas isn’t cosy — it’s dangerous. God comes among the weak, marginalised & vulnerable. Jesus began life displaced. Advent hope isn’t escape from darkness — it’s God-with-us in the middle of it.
