Pictures taken while driving south yesterday. No alt, too lazy.

Took a nice leisurely drive down to Stanwood, bought six cupcakes and a cookie, came back home via Wendy’s. Nice weather.

A drive-by photo of a field, with hills in the distance, and clouds. There’s a small bird on a powerline.

I think I just saw a turkey vulture flying around my yard.

A terrible picture of a bird, flying. Mostly dark brown, light trailing feathers on the wings, red head.

Almost complete. He needs to come back tomorrow and attach the sensors that let the new system know how much solar power is coming in. But, the batteries are charging!

Two very large white boxes, which are 15kWh batteries, and a slightly smaller white box on the wall, which is the control system, with various grey conduits running about.

@glitch25 I have it, and had it hooked up when I originally installed it, but when I moved it, I didn’t bother because the battery had never gotten low enough to need it last winter. Here’s this month so far…

@moira landing 4 has nothing but a closet, so doesn’t need elevator service. This position would require relocating several things in the garage (100A electrical panel, central vac, internet drop), delete the bar on the top floor, and possibly need to open into […] [Original post on clacks.link]

Hm. Maybe batteries would be a worthwhile investment, eight months out of the year. And I'd only need maybe 40kWh of storage (that'd be about an single average day, so about two nights')

12 month energy flow analysis. Left bar graph shows monthly balances, with huge exports except nov-feb. right shows distribution: 22MWh generated, 15 consumed, 17 exported and 9 imported.

Took the trash out. While I was still outside, I went and moved one of the skulls, and then pulled up a garden hose that had been partially buried in the yard leading to the garden area. Discovered that mostly they just buried the hose in the dirt, though they […] [Original post on clacks.link]

@glitch25 @moira it has snowed every night and day since Saturday. In the morning there’s always a coating of snow, usually melting off by 12 or 13, turning briefly to rain, then back to snow at night. Here is the now. Much lighter last night, than the previous two nights.
