So many started settling in the trees of the downtown Fort Worth,TX entertainment district that the City set up intermittent sound effects in the evening - somewhere in between the sound of a gunshot and a grenade- to keep them away. Now they hang in suburban parking lots. Plenty stay year round!

My favorite older cousin and her delightful husband both of whom I have adored since I was a child- brilliant artists, world travelers, kindest people you’ve ever met, told me that it’s likely the Covid vaccine is why my Mom has dementia. Haven’t spoken to them since. Breaks my heart.

As an aside, one night I was walking down the hall to my bedroom and pass my daughter’s room. I got pissed off because I thought she was smoking some skunky weed in the house. Turns out it was just skunk, not skunky weed.

The skunk had given me a malodorous warning spritz with a few very visible marks on said pants. After many soaks in oxyclean, baking soda, vinegar, multiple washings, they still stink & are hanging out in the garage until I decide if it’s worth continuing to try to save them. Leaning toward NOPE.

The odor was still hanging around the next day and evening. IN MY BEDROOM, but that’s right off the patio/deck where skunks hang. The next weekend, washing clothes, still powerful odor and I come across some white linen pants. Same pants I was wearing the night of the powerful, eye-watering stink.

Have a multi-generational family of skunks in my backyard. Never been sprayed, nor my cat. Until…the other night I thought one sprayed in general, but was more potent than usual. Smell followed me into the house. Still thought it was just outside as it does hang around a while… POWERFUL ODOR…

I am still trying to wrap my head around what I saw & how that made it out into the world. I don’t give a flying F about Nike or Converse, but kept going back to the image again & again to try to see it another way. There was no other way I could see it. No other viewpoint or take. #MedicareforallNOW My Mom’s sitter has a raging kidney infection. She spent $75 on an urgent care co-pay only to be sent to the ER. Just checked in w/ her & found she hadn’t picked up her meds yet because she spent her last $ on the co-pay. Just Venmoed her $ for meds. US healthcare is a disaster.
