Living moss, air plants, and other greenery make up a headdress and body armor draped on an ebony female mannequin. This piece is part of an exhibit at the Sturt Haaga Gallery within the grounds of Descanso Gardens in La Canada. The exhibit is called "Daphne's Wardrobe: Metamorphosis Into Nature." This particular piece is created by Melissa Meier and the exhibit wall states: "The difference in Meier's armor is that it is not modeled on male battle attire but on a transfiguration into nature, becoming one with it."

When Tiny Lantern visited this exhibit, a worker was gently spraying the piece with a fine mist of water.

This exhibit runs until June 1, 2025.

An earthship dwelling sits in the red sand desert near Taos, New Mexico. Cement and recycled bottles make up most of the visible structure. A deep blue sky with fluffy white clouds are in the background.

Some earthships are homes and some are short term rentals. We had the delightful opportunity of spending two nights in this earthship.

Do you collect pebbles? Crow feathers? Seed pods? How about bark… fallen from a tree into tall grass? And then do you decide it’s art? If so… you have a friend. #artoftheday

Both. Our experience is that journaling should be whatever you need in the moment. Whether it's coming to the page about something that just happened. Or writing a dream from the night before. Or simply being out of sequence because you are excited or unfocused. Journaling is for you. NO judgment.

Why do so many “pretty” journals lay dormant? Because the spine is too firm. The pages are too small. And pen against paper doesn’t glide. To commit to journaling, it must FEEL good. Stalogy soft notebooks, made in Japan, are a TL favorite. What's yours?

Ten paperback journals are spread out, overlapping each other. Each journal is a different solid color: deep blue, black, bright red, and gray. A shiny turquoise-colored fountain pen lays on top of the journals. The Japanese company Stalogy is the maker of the journals.
