At our Lasting Learning symposium on retrieval practice #EARLI2025 #Graz, @tinoendres.bsky.social et al. showed that emotional design + retrieval practice led to the strongest lasting learning. 💡 Also: laser pointer = top attention tool 🔎😄👍 #DFG #EduSky Pictured 📸: Tino Endres

Our new paper is out — and already famous for its wild 5×2 design (forehead slap included 😅). We looked at how combining constructive tasks with retrieval boosts learning. The key finding: the sequence doesn’t matter, but the constructive retrieval combo works.

How can we support learning when self-control is most taxed—such as during online learning or long study sessions? Our new paper in Computers & Education shows that developing interest through emotional design reduces mental load and enhances sustained learning, especially under those demands.

Cool translingual approach. Creating instruments w/strong validity evidence across languages/cultures increases the instrument's reach, and may reveal important sources of variance that can be missed when focused on one language/culture. buff.ly/4fW7sGw #PsychSciSky #AcademicSky #EduSky

📚 New study alert! @tinoendres.bsky.social & Alexander Eitel examine the impact of motivation on the testing effect. Results reveal that mastery goal orientation moderates the effect (Exp.1&2), with external rewards enhancing successful retrieval practice (Exp.2). 🔎 doi.org/10.1002/acp....
