Social media is dead. Plastic. Artificial. It's like reading about going on a hike and calling yourself a hiker. It's like going out with friends...who ignore you and don't ask you questions. Social media is cynicism. It's calling out wrongs to others who agree with you from the start.

With third graders it's simple...my favorite tool is Google Slides. The kids love to create "books" within slides. We just finished a unit in making question and answer books and I printed them out half page books...1 copy for the classroom library and 1 to go home. #EduSkyChat

I started meds about a year ago for #ADHD I was 44. Small miracles still amaze me like coming in Mon morning. I open my school computer A calendar event is there I panic "I have to call that parent today" I look at my Monday list. I already wrote it down. Letting go of the near constant anxiety+

I teach third grade and I drive a 14 year old Corolla that I may be driving for the rest of my life and it feels like a stereotype. Like in twenty something years they'll be saying: tim parked his 2010 Corolla in the same spot for the last 35 years. There are worse things, I suppose. #teaching

I try to keep a positive space/attitude about all things education. #EduSky What's a positive reframing in these situations: - sometimes it IS the teachers who are the problem - sometimes it IS the admin who is the problem - sometimes it IS the parent who is the problem - sometimes it IS the kid too

The danger with only using programs that explicitly teach foundational skills during reading instruction is that you miss out on the beautiful opportunities for students to fall in love with the stories being read. There should be a balance of both. #TheRightTools

45 today. Half way to 90. I can (theoretically) get my full teacher pension in 22 years when I'm 67. I will have taught 29 yrs then (if I'm not dead, which is always possible 🤷🏻‍♂️). If I'm healthy, maybe I go longer! Or maybe I pick a 3rd career. Actor?; if that's still a career in 2053. 🎉 #edusky

Third grade is wild because you get to introduce kids to things like: Loose leaf paper "the holes go left. This is left" They've mostly experienced workbooks and worksheets with boxes and lines for everything prior to third.
