Rocket From The Crypt - 10/16/26 - Irving Plaza - New York, NY. I saw @rftc.rftc for the very first time at Irving Plaza in 1995, so it seemed only fitting that I saw them there again last night for my 40th time seeing the band live.

On the way to Rocket From The Crypt in NYC, we had to stop at Paul’s for the best burger in the world.

Rocket overcame it because they have a big sound (tm), but Man or Astro-man sounded like they were playing in mud.

Greatest live band to ever exist and I always feel like Jake in the Blues Brothers when he sees the light every time I see Rocket From The Crypt play. Round 2 is tonight. Hopefully Irving Plaza sounds better because as a venue, the sound in Warsaw sucks.

Rocket From The Crypt: 10/15/26 - Warsaw - Brooklyn, NY. The # of things that make me cross two rivers and go to Brooklyn is essentially just Rocket. Killer show as usual with a heavy Scream Dracula Scream and Group Sounds focus (the encore was My Arrow's Aim, BLOOD ROBOTS and Come See Come Saw).

Rocket From The Crypt is playing Brooklyn tonight, which is not my favorite place to commute to from NJ. That said I just had a hell of a falafel at Taboonette on 13th street. Wowsers. Gearing up to brave the L train to hipster town.

I would like someone to honor these prices from my 1987 Star Wars price guide. I wish I had more allowance to spend back then. (These are prices for carded figures)

Completely blows my mind that this came out 35 years ago. It’s just kind of unfathomable. Sure, I wasn’t quite old enough to drive yet so obviously it was a long time ago, but I remember the day I bought it so vividly.

Showed of the 1989 Toybiz Batman and Batmobile on @perfectlyexcellent.bsky.social last night. Among the last toys I remember getting as a kid that were meant to be played with as toys (I was 12 when they came out). Always really dug these and happy to have found nice ones for the collection.

I haven’t enjoyed most of Alan’s Rewind Club selections so far. Did he break the curse or did the streak continue? We’ll chat about it tonight at 7:30pm Eastern.

Went to Lee’s Hawaiian Islander in Lyndhurst last night. One of the best places in NJ. Has not changed at all since I went there when I was a kid. May it exist forever.

As discussed on yesterday’s @perfectlyexcellent.bsky.social podcast (now available as an audio podcast wherever you podcast your podcasts), I was able to find another Sears Lobo II RC car to replace the broken one I had to return a few months back. And this one has the box!

The loose Knight Rider Turbo Booster isn’t from the show, but I picked it up at a store called Uncle Bob’s that I hit on the way home. So excited to finally have a loose one that still has paint in the car. The carded one I picked up a bit ago, but it felt like the right time to show it off.

The Big Loader Construction Set was a favorite of mine and even though I have no where to put it, I couldn’t pass up a complete, working one that was still in the box.

Been after a nice Lion-O and Snarf for a while. My brother had this figure when we were kids (I had Panthro & Mumm-Ra). Finding a Snarf that isn’t beat to hell is particularly challenging, but I’ve got a solid one now.

When I posted a few weeks ago to never give up the hunt, the thing you want is out there, this is what I was talking about. If I can find this, you can find anything. This is the greatest hunt and greatest acquisition I ever had. THE DISCO DANCE MACHINE!

It’s a child’s record player from the 70s and it’s gigantic so this thing is practically non-existent. If you look it up, there are almost no pictures of it that aren’t from ads or the commercial. The only picture I can find is one I put up of me sitting next to mine (the last picture here).

Here we have the last big pickup from last week’s @perfectlyexcellent, and it’s really the biggest one I can think of. This is the Disco Dance Machine. It was made by Ohio Art in 1979 using the shell of a turntable/jukebox design from a company called Emenee.

The yellow Lego 6075 Castle was the first Lego set I remember getting. This set lived at my Dad’s house and I just remember building so many yellow things. The mini figures were great with the jousting dudes and their helmets and the alternate kingdom apparel so you could wage some battles.
