The right has united around a rejection of government as the solution to social problems. Which means they can generally agree to block new policies and programs. The left is united in its desire for government solutions. But that means they have to face the harder task of agreeing on what to do. 1/

Right. As far as I can tell no one in the Trump administration so much as lifted a finger about these exhibits. Instead the OAS preemptively canceled the shows for fear that the US might penalize the OAS for showing art by Black or queer artists. That's censorship as soft power

New work :: a new, currently untitled painting, acrylic on canvas, 54” x 36” (137.16 x 91.44cm) This was going to be a flatter, more overall monochromatic painting, with the form more of a part of the background. At some point, things shifted, prompting me to make some space between form and ground.

A vertical painting with a yellow form with blue undertones against a mottled orange background. The foreground form is made up of curvilinear, interconnected triangles. It’s almost five feet by three feet in size.

Dried acrylic paint forms that I've had around for years, going back to 2005 or even sooner. Most of it is paint that dried out in containers and some from palette surfaces. I've pulled them out again and this time, I think I've found a way forward with it.

I learned during the pandemic that capitalism does not give a shit about your reasonable concerns to political chaos, hate crimes, and many people dying. The bills still arrive, rent still needs to be paid, work still needs to be done. Be kind to yourself. One thing at a time.
