The one that always gets me is English people greeting each other with “you all right?” It would make me wonder if I look like I’m dying or something.

My wife and I went to Avebury because we had seen that show! One of the great destinations I’ve ever visited.

Oooooh yeah A++++++ recommendation. Made a gigantic impact on me as a little kid and was a revelation when I saw it as an adult

From what little I know about you I think that You Bet Your Life is worth a shot. Groucho is 100% on the money every minute and watching him bait the guests and especially his announcer never gets old for me. youtube.com/playlist?lis...

So glad you got the be there for that!! 😂 He did it in Chicago too. They’re the best band we got these days, just next level

I saw it on its original release when I was 14, but when I revisited it in my twenties I was shocked at how bad the narration was.

Here’s the recipe. I used to be amazing at roasting chicken and kind of lost my mojo over the years, so this gave me a great reset. Being able to roast two at once was a huge bonus. Lan Lam always delivers the goods! youtu.be/hrc8wlMUFEU

Starting some chicken stock. I made roast chickens from a great new recipe a couple days ago and need to get the carcasses in motion. Already smells incredible. Hoping I can get the soup made tomorrow!

To this day I keep wondering if the third friend was Jeannie Francis. I didn’t know they were married then. So that’s my story, a happy one. I met Nichelle Nichols and Leonard Nimoy at a con in 1986 but an autograph line and an elevator are different experiences. #startrek

He was an absolute gent about it. We kept it all brief and I was very mortified at myself and on some level still am, but he was a pro and was just as kind and genial as you would hope. I wondered if I would see anybody famous on that trip to NY but did not expect that. 😅

rest of the ride up. Once we were on the viewing platform, it was amazing of course, but part of me could not stop losing it bc we kept passing each other as we went from view to view. So finally I just gave up and held out my hand, told him I loved the show and appreciated his work on it.

The three of them stood behind us and the elevator started its long ride up. About halfway, I heard this voice behind me that immediately made me turn and look. Sure enough, one of the guy’s friends was Jonathan Frakes, he was standing right behind me. So then I’m just tying to contain myself for

60th anny of Star Trek, so here’s my Star Trek encounter. In 1992 my friend and I visited the World Trade Center. We got in the elevator and were followed in by this really conspicuous guy with long hair and a little beard and a rock and roll leather jacket look, along with two friends.

Great way to look at it. I saw it for the first time maybe 10 years ago and just finished my first rewatch three days ago. So much to savor.

Of course, one would have to have a working disc player, which I know a lot of folks don’t bother with these days

Bet I’m older 😂 but I’m probably taken in by the Yvonne Craig avatar. I just rented the dvds from the library

Have you remedied that? I missed all of DS9 when it went out but just finished my first rewatch. Confirmed my view that it’s my favorite incarnation of ST by a good margin

I’d like to read that one. I’ve seen the movie - Spielberg’s style tends to grate on me, but I’d count most of this one as among his less grating works. Most of it. So I should read the story.

Is it more uncensored than the uncensored version from the Silver Screen Collection from 2016ish I think? I was under the impression that it was complete there but I can be an easy mark for such claims

Was my biggest surprise when I finally watched DS9 several years ago, and was my main motivation for rewatching it now. They’re my favorite part of that show.

Tim Kocher @timkocher.bsky.social · 28/07/2026

That’s really apt. I liked Tbolts the most out of the post endgame lot, FF about the same, but you’re right - there’s some essential spark that’s missing. I’ve wondered if it’s just a natural arc of my own reserves of enthusiasm being impacted by waning novelty, but I think you’re on to something

Loads of other great acts too. Plus one of the dancers is Terri Garr and she is really easy to spot.

Hooray!! Another very enjoyable episode. Last year I finally watched the TAMI Show film, and it seems especially relevant to this ep since both Lesley Gore and Jan & Dean are prominently featured. If you haven’t seen it, I strongly recommend it. Lots of fun. youtu.be/EnFbkV17O08?...
