Do we reckon’ Pauline thinks that if you have a larger economy and divide it by a smaller number of people that everyone will just automatically get more?
A screenshot of a FB post from the Courier Mail. The text reads: “Pauline Hanson has hit back at critics who claim One Nation's policy to drastically slash visas and international student numbers will tank Australia's economy.”

Beneath is an image of Pauline Hanson with a maroon background. It is captioned with the following text (a quote attributed to Hanson): “A larger economy on paper means nothing if Australians are poorer per person and cannot afford a home, find a hospital, or get ahead.”

This... feels familiar?
This is an image of The Adoration of the Golden Calf, a painting by Nicolas Poussin.

Credit to Wikipedia for the description:

The painting's subject follows an event described in the Book of Exodus, chapter 32: during Moses' ascent to Mount Sinai, Aaron gathered the people's gold to build a Golden Calf, an idol inspired by the Egyptians deities, despite the prohibition of the third commandment of the Decalogue. Moses, returning back with Joshua, discovers the scene of idolatry, lifts the tablets of the Law to break them.

The canvas shows the Golden Calf, placed on a base surmounted by an ornate pedestal, slightly at the left of the center of the composition, who is surrounded by a farandole of female and male dancers, on the left, and a kneeling crowd, on the right, leaning and listening to Aaron, who appears dressed in white. The decoration of the painting includes two trees on either side, a dry one on the right, and another bearing foliage on the left, in the direction of the two men descending from the mountain, Moses and Joshua. Moses, who holds the tablets of the Law above his head, is about to break them, in outrage over the idolatry of the people.

What a truly bizarre way to report on the fact that a decisive majority of Australians want to stick with net zero...

New absolutely appalling 'justification' of Israel's killing in Gaza just dropped. The per-hour killing rate of Israel is *way better* than Hamas did on Oct 7 🙃
A screenshot of an instagram comment from "rafiki_in_a_temple": It reads: "@timhuttonpersonal About the 1200 people you haven't still got the point.
They were killed in 8 to 9 hours. That's 133 to 140 people slaughtered per hour. How many Gazans were killed per hour by the IDF in 580 days?
52.000/580, then the result/24. That's more or less 4 Gazans per hour. It is not the death rate of a genocide, nor of indiscriminate killings. It's the death rate of a war against terrorists who hide among civilians and get tracked down."

Mental characteristics, including but not limited to allegations of stupidity, intellectual capacity, and mental illness, and unsupported comparisons between PC groups on the basis of inherent intellectual capacity. People get so weird about the specifics of how others wash themselves. I have no problem with washcloths, but as long as someone isn’t visibly soiled, and doesn’t smell, there’s no reason to think they’d be “unhygienic” for washing with just their hands and soap…
A screenshot from Threads of a post and a comment to that post.

The OP reads: “hey stop using your hand to wash your body in the shower. get a wash cloth!”

The reply reads: “The number of unhygienic people in the comments are too damn high. A washcloth scrubs off the particles. Otherwise you’re just rubbing soaped up particles around.”

Sharing here because I think a lot of people in the #LongCOVID and #MECFS communities who’ve left Twitter might want to know. Unfortunately, it sounds like Gemma Carey—an outspoken advocate for the LC/ME/chronic illness community—has died. Very sad indeed, and my condolences go out to her family.
