Iota contest single op portable station. Shame my car’s battery decided to go empty first thing Sunday. Had to pack up to attend to it without any operating after 03:00. Still, a nice night!!

It’s 2026. You order a small item (3x15m paracord from Mountain Warehouse. Done Monday to click and collect from store 11 miles away. You’re told you will receive email saying it’s there for collection. It’s Friday. No email. MW say this will take 5 working days. Wonder why the high street is dying?

Great to meet up and have an eyeball with @m5jfs.bsky.social this morning! Chatted about satellites, teaching and stuff!

145 Alive and Facebook. Another well attended event. Yet even more people moaning about the lift on 2m that “ruined my day” as I heard 3 nets on one frequency. Others saying that the organisers must’ve been drunk to pick those frequencies. Absolute arse wipes. Who said amateurs are negative?

Looking forward to testing my new efhw arrival from N9SAB. A linked efhw.

Not too bad with 100w, mixture of little tarheel and Ampro hamsticks plus the shack / capacitive ground from the Ford Mondeo.

Just watched a replay of the RSGB AGM from Saturday. The pre-submitted questions saw more “forward defensive strokes” in the replies than in the nets the day before a test match. The words eel and slippery spring to mind…

In the car “mobile” for WPX. About 13 hrs so far this weekend all search and pounce. Another 8-9 hours tonight. MIGHT get near to 650-700 QSOs and around 350-400k points. We shall see.

Listen out for the boys at G2EC (Royal signals ARS) pulling out the stops to be a big signal in this weekend’s WPX SSB contest. Great bunch of chaps and I’m sure you’ll hear them on all contest bands 160-10 💥

Great to work @wgoodf.bsky.social a few days ago when out doing a POTA

I see that ready made mono-band (LC circuit) end fed half waves retail for about £50. Don’t see any sold in kits for about £30? Wonder if there’s a gap there? Simple to make and when the sunspot cycle tanks in 2-3 years it’ll all be about efficiency over convenience.

Still sad news but also quite amazing that the death toll in Jamaica amounted to 4 people. Yes that’s 4 too many, but my word it could have been so so many more.

Any full licence holders changed their call to another full call? If you didn’t already know, you can!

Covid hits me for the second time. Bed bound and feeling very rough. Bit of a sweep of it at work by the looks of it.

Nice to work 10,12 and 15m with the 133ft efhw portable. Great to hear the upper HF bands open. Moving away from doldrums into hopefully a fruitful autumn for HF.

@noaacomms.noaa.gov Hi there I am the editor of an online journal for the Radio Society of Great Britain (RSGB) called RadCom Basics and we are looking to use an image from one of your web pages. Can we confirm if this is possible and how to gain permission? Thank you.

Superb to work @wgoodf.bsky.social on 40 last Friday evening. Much fun comparing an inverted v EFHW with a full sized quarter wave ground mounted vertical.
