Of course an actual amendment to remove the Electoral College would face the same hurdle. Really I don't expect any action on the Electoral College until the Citizens United decision is disarmed and campaign spending brought back under control.

While I am excited that the numbers are there to pass and get Congressional assent for the National Popular Vote Interstate Compact in partisan terms, one of the flaws of the plan is that the last states to approve it are the swing states that get hundreds of millions of dollars pumped into […]

I heard something wild on RadioWest that I had to verify. As of right now, more people voted for the 4 Democratic Congressional candidates in Utah than the 4 Republicans. 342k to 326k. Absolutely insane. If there had been a Senate or Gubernatorial race this cycle, it very well could have gone […]

I couldn't resist looking through the precinct data and every single Daybreak precinct did go blue, as I expected. Most of them (including mine) around +33. This is why we're cracked and merged with a bunch of Riverton and lower South Jordan.

The Utah Democrats didn't run anyone in House District 60, which includes BYU, and I think that was a mistake. I went to bed last night fantasizing a veto-proof majority. Alas, there was no permutation where that could have happened, so instead the only thing this Congress will be able to do on its own is investigations and keep more evil people out of political appointments.

The Colorado River is shrinking. Here’s why that matters for Utah’s biggest cities.
The Central Utah Project and other transbasin diversions bring Colorado River water to the Wasatch Front. If Utah has to cut its Colorado River use in the future, the state's major cities could lose this water source.
