We're out of contention for the league, and I think it's going to be very tough to challenge for a CL spot. Even if we play perfectly and get a CL spot, where's the confidence this won't happen nest year? Every year this happens, the core gets another year older and the competition improves.

For the past month I was fuming at Renee for the losses. But at this point? I'm not sure if this can be hung on her. The worst part is that the team has legitimately looked better today, but it's still a disaster of an outcome.

I have tickets for Canada next week. If Liv plays, I'll be happy because I want to watch her live, but mad because why isn't she playing for AWFC. If she doesn't play, it'll at least explain what's happening at the club, but I won't get to see her play. In conclusion, I live in a land of contrasts.

I suggested that it was probably really great for 2007, when it first came out. Some cool mechanisms and themes for that time. Today it's not bad, it just isn't nearly as exciting or innovative.

The bidding in NYC is "you get to do as many things equal to your bid, and the winning player gets a bonus." There are five rounds of bidding, and it's difficult to win all five. So you're always doing something. Sometimes with a bonus.

Teotihuacan is a rondel game about collecting and using resources. Maybe a tad heavier than I normally graduate to but I really liked it and would play again. Colosseum is an auction game about putting on performances. It was fine. Didn't dislike it, didn't love it.

Played some board games today. New York City (Feld City Series) is an auction and area control game; I'm usually cool on auctions, but this was fun - it's really hard to bully an auction. Build skyscrapers to area control.

The Linda Lindas are a a fun, often but not always political, punk band. The album was okay, it didn't really land with me. Futurebirds are Americana / alt country, the record was okay. Nashville Sound still hits. Still so good.

I see merit to that theory. Stina was getting better, but this seems like a way to undo that: go on, shoot like mad at goal, and hope for the best. If you keep using her in stretched out games, or games which are already in the bag (imagine!) and she can continue to develop, that's good.

I am full on the defenestrate the entire front office bandwagon, but (and this is a big but), if it stays, either the coaching staff needs to use the players the front office brings in, or the coaching staff needs to have a better say in recruitment. Because the current operations are garbage.

Either the front office needs to go or the coaches need to use the player provided. The current setup is not working: I agree with you. I do think that Stina & Frida are still good players who can contribute; they're just not being used in the right game states. That's also a major problem.

Stina is still valuable but she needs to be played in game states that reflect her skills. Desperate for a goal in extra time of a draw is not a Stina game. In order to fix this, we should spend January recruiting really good players who the coach will never trust to be on the pitch, ever.

I am broadly aware that the officiating in the women's game is slowly getting better over time, and it will continue to get better. But it is often embarrassingly bad, especially in Europe. Arsenal play a game where they actually show that they're competitive, and ref incompetence costs two points.
