We're still so touched to float with amazing apps during the WWDC Keynote, and to be in the Platform State of the Union and the visionOS 27 Session. Yay CellWalk!! Thank you to the kind people at Apple and to the whole developer community for the best WWDC yet.

The first image is the broken experiment, the second image is the disordered prediction from AlphaFold. It's disordered, so we have flexibility with what we do with the tails I'll probably just run a little coarse-grained simulation when you get close.. they'll be a flailing blur.

The synaptophysin disordered regions have misleading C6 symmetry from the AlphaFold prediction, so I'll do something with those too. Almost there. I need to double check principal axes and offsets, tweak some things, add a membrane.

Tim Davison ᯅ @timd-ca.bsky.social · 03/03/2026
For the VAMP2 cytoplasmic SNARE domains I did some randomized rigid body transforms, and took a bit of license to spread out the dangly bits (disorganized regions from the AlphaFold prediction).

WIP: modelled the synaptophysin-VAMP2 complex for our synaptic vesicle. This complex is involved in vesicle fusion. SYP forms a hexamer with 12 copies of VAMP2, a key part of the fusion machinery.

No membrane. Need VAMP complex, etc. Principal axis for many proteins isn't set yet, nor transmembrane offset.

Glutamate charging works like this: The ATPase uses ATP to create a proton gradient, and VGluT uses the gradient to exchange glutamate (from outside) with protons (from inside). It's really quite cool how they work together.

Lazy morning building a synaptic vesicle from scratch. Super WIP and not correct. Much to do. But it has the coolest guys imho: - Amber: Vesicular glutamate transporter (VGluT) - Red: V-ATPase No membrane. Need VAMP complex, etc. #screenshotsunday

Still reading the API.. and digging into it. CloudXR, OpenXR. Looks like perhaps "gaze regions" are sent to the server (not exact gaze rays).. Very interesting. Hoping gaze regions come to CompositorServices.

I just updated CellWalk for the M5 Apple Vision Pro! This app really pushes the GPU (entire cells with billions of atoms) and it's a great way to test the M5. CellWalk on M5 increases resolution and detail 1.5x over M2! Huge. It's super sharp and detailed. Apple Intelligence is also way faster.

I quietly released new features for Apple Vision Pro in the last update: Widgets and on-device AI explanations powered by Apple Intelligence. I don't have an M5 yet, has anyone tried CellWalk on the M5 Apple Vision Pro?! How is it? more resolution (it should get more by default)?!
