There has never been a time when there has only been one way to be a Christian.

Dear PM Carney. Premier Smith says it's okay for a higher level of government to enforce its will on the democratically elected legislative body of a lower level of government. So it's okay for your government to enforce the Canada Health Act.

We were able to reclaim our Canadian flag from the ‘freedom convoy’ crowd. I’m not optimistic about reclaiming the Alberta flag from the seppies.

A Prayer for the Feast of Francis of Assisi. 🙏 Lord God, you made your church rich through the poverty of blessed Francis: help us like him to sing creation’s praise, and care for all your creatures; through Jesus Christ, our crucified and risen Lord. Amen.

The Nobel peace prize is meaningless. I read these words this morning: 'Love your enemies; do good to those who hate you; bless those who curse you; pray for those who mistreat you.' That should be what the Nobel peace prize is all about. If it isn't, it needs another name.

Oil and gas is the Alberta sacred cow. There is zero political will to do anything meaningful about the climate crisis in Canada right now. OK, if you've accepted that massive climate change is now inevitable, where's your funding for addressing the consequences? What's your plan?

I’m quoting from memory, but somewhere in one of his books, Dietrich Bonhoeffer says to a pastor, ‘God did not call you to this church so that you could become its accuser.’ I often forget that one, but I try not to.

The UCP Government is running these referenda. But the UCP government is also arguing for one side on most of the questions. How is that remotely ethical? Where’s the balanced guide that makes the case for both sides? It galls me that my tax dollars are used to pay for this.

David Cameron thought staying in power by offering extremists in his party a separation referendum was a good idea. Danielle Smith thinks staying in power by offering extremists in her party a separation referendum is a good idea. Hmm.

I'm often troubled when this text is read. 1. How is the authentic message of Jesus good news for the poor, release to the captives etc.? 2. How are we living out that message today? Or is it just too radical for us modern Jesus-followers?

Dear Senator: if you want a better relationship with Canada, you and your Senate colleagues have the power to make it happen. Your government never misses an opportunity to attack us and insult us. In Europe, meanwhile, we are respected. See the problem? It's up to you to fix it, not us!
