Might not be entirely accurate since I have basically never played a MonHun so I had to guesstimate with analogues in other games, but (Also, the quiz burasut.com/en/monsterhu... )

Result from a Monster Hunter personality quiz that shows that my highest match was 75% to Rathian, saying "Fierce wheen protecting what is yours. Stable and aware of everyone around you." As well as showing some stats based on answers, some of which are sort of accurate, like middling sociability and ambition, or high caution and decent cooperation. But others seem more off the mark, like high initiative and low curiosity.
Apparently 9.2% of other people who took the quiz got this result.

My second and third highest matches were Mizutsune and Garangolm with 63% each, but no descriptive text for those. I'll have to see if someone got those results and posted a screenshot to sate my own curiousity.

I forget if I told you about this already, but I've seen some kind of jigsaw puzzle (game? program?) used as part of a solo AP setup (checks in other games unlocked puzzle pieces in the jigsaw) and that seemed like an interesting part of the way to do it (alongside other turn-based games and stuff)

The first two I left in the dirt (the latter taking some thinking because if they tried ai and decided to stop, that's one thing, but continuing to use the font, again, signals to me that they're still using ai, just not where it's as blatant).

I've seen, for instance, too many youtube thumbnails all have that same font style. Plenty that were also just plainly using ai otherwise. Some that might've used ai for some but it was harder to tell. And some that didn't seem to use it at all that I could tell.

So, one thing that continues to befuddle me, I guess, is why on Earth people use the ai slop font in content that doesn't seem to otherwise be/use ai. Like just...use any other font. It only makes me assume you're using ai somewhere in the pipeline that's not visible, so I don't want to watch/look.

Aye. And even for games that I don't intend to play, I can still enjoy watching other people play them, either via streams/let's play style content (which streams seem to have eclipsed) or as commentary-less longplays, for just the game itself. Or deep dive essay videos and whatnot.

Of course there actually kind of /is/ a Spider-Man game that's kind of a zombie apocalypse, canonically (Web of Shadows, I think? Symbiotes doing the zombie thing, sort of), and of course there are horror romhacks with Pokemon and other games. So I guess I just need to go looking more.

Tangentially related, I do remember a time when I was getting into creepypastas that I wished that all games just sort of had a Horror Mode. Like in Spider-Man 2, if there was a zombie apocalypse or something. Or playing Pokemon you could unlock some kind of creepy mode

And when otherwise normal games dip into horror for certain missions/levels/segments that tends to be more appealing than entire horror games. But probably I just need to find some horror games that give you a lot of power...that just still isn't enough for whatever the horror is. Or something.

I did play a homebrew GBC horror game for Halloween a couple years back. Quick little game with a handful of endings. But it was more of an RPG than survival horror. Not especially scary or unnerving, but an interesting experience all the same. (this one izma.itch.io/deadeus)

(As an example, I recently played through A Short Hike, and even after beating it (twice) I could still see myself loading the game up just to go soaring around the island for funsies. Like I used to swing around New York in Spider-Man 2 on Gamecube for hours as a kid)

And like, the limited agency is, of course, most of the /point/ of horror, of course. It's just antithetical to why I play games, so I don't play (especially survival) horror games. Though I'm sure there are horror games out there that are more in my wheelhouse.

One of the reasons I tend to not bother with horror games. Not even the biggest one! But it can be all too fast to hit the point where tension and fear flip to annoyance upon dying. (The bigger reasons are: Limited movement and limited resources, which bother me way more than anything spooky)

I know this'll ruffle feathers but I agree with this Food/Water watch analysis. Diverting renewable energy away from fossil phase-out and climate adaptation and towards melting graphics card to power chatbots is the formal end of moral purpose for clean technology.

Data Centers With Renewables Aren’t the Answer
So all these power plants and “temporary” turbines are raising power prices and polluting our communities. Why don’t we just power data centers with renewables?

Many data center companies are pledging to (eventually) do just that. But even if these pledges weren’t just empty greenwashing promises, powering data centers with clean energy is utterly unrealistic. It also threatens the progress of our already dangerously slow energy transition.

Continuously powering a 1 GW data center would require nearly 20,000 acres of solar panels or 185,000 acres of onshore wind power. We cannot afford to waste the time, space, or money to build renewables for Big Tech’s profit machines.

Already, data center growth is outstripping available renewable energy supply and redirecting renewables from other industries. It’s drawing urgently needed renewables from existing technologies and resources. We need to focus our renewable energy resources toward thos

I pivoted off of google search years back but truly every new thing that pops up makes me more glad that I did. I use Brave Search right now, which does also have an AI summary, but unlike google there's literally just a setting toggle to turn it off.

The standard narrative goes that LUDDITES were foolish lunatics who, in fear of technology, decided progress was bad, and started hitting it with sticks. (But the truth is entire ways of life were being destroyed.)

Previously, skilled craftsmen were respected for the time and effort it took to do their work. The entire family usit would form a cottage industry - creating something valuable, and command a decent living. But when a machine can work 10 times faster its owner can charge less for the prodcts- craftsmen couldn't compete and were left out of work almost overnight.

And as factories became a fixture of the british landscape, these now unemployed labourers often ended up working the factories that had just destroyed their way of life. Britain was the most prosperous nation in history, factory owners became extremely wealthy and influential. But the people doing the actual work saw almost none of it.
